From ancient times to the present day, the practice of culling characters’ orations from one or more works and publishing them independently of their original source has produced new and different ways of reading and using history. Anthologies of Historiographical Speeches offers an introduction to the very diverse questions that arise from the study of the genre through a variety of approaches and methodological tools. Lying at the point where rhetoric and historiography intersect, the essays included in this volume focus on the rhetorical aspects of the collections, as well as on their production, transmission, and reception from antiquity to the early modern period.International studies in the history of rhetoric ;Volume 7.HistoriographyHistoryRhetoricHistoryHistoriographyHistory.RhetoricHistory.907.2Iglesias Zoido Juan CarlosPineda VictoriaMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910792744403321Anthologies of historiographical speeches from antiquity to early modern times3749349UNINA03921nam 22005292 450 991082355170332120180129164718.0981-4459-64-X10.1355/9789814459648(CKB)3710000001100286(OCoLC)978446791(MdBmJHUP)muse56014(MiAaPQ)EBC5124075(UkCbUP)CR9789814459648(DE-B1597)491884(OCoLC)1011181466(DE-B1597)9789814459648(Au-PeEL)EBL5124075(CaPaEBR)ebr11464896(EXLCZ)99371000000110028620170404d2017|||| uy| 0engur|||||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierLiving next to the giant the political economy of Vietnam's relations with China under Doi Moi /Le Hong Hiep[electronic resource]Singapore :ISEAS Publishing,2017.1 online resource (xiv, 259 pages) digital, PDF file(s)Title from publisher's bibliographic system (viewed on 25 Jan 2018).981-4459-63-1 Includes bibliographical references and index.Frontmatter -- Contents -- List of Tables -- List of figures -- List of abbreviations -- Acknowledgements -- 1. Conclusion: The Lessons of Doi Moi for Vietnam's China Policy -- Bibliography -- Index -- About the AuthorThis book examines how the interaction between political and economic factors under Doi Moi has shaped Vietnam's China policy and bilateral relations since the late 1980s.After providing a historical background, the book examines the conflicting effects that Doi Moi has generated on bilateral relations. It demonstrates that Vietnam's economic considerations following the adoption of Doi Moi contributed decidedly to the Sino-Vietnamese normalization in 1991 as well as the continuous improvements in bilateral ties ever since. At the same time, Vietnam's economic activities in the South China Sea and China's responses have intensified bilateral rivalry and put their ties under considerable strains. The book goes on to argue that Doi Moi has indeed brought Vietnam newfound opportunities to develop a multi-level Omni-directional hedging strategy against China. Finally, the book concludes by looking at the prospects of democratization in both countries and assessing the future trajectory of their relations under such circumstances. As the most comprehensive and up-to-date survey of Vietnam's relations with China over the past thirty years, the book is a useful reference source for academics, policymakers, students, and anyone interested in contemporary Vietnam foreign policy in general and Vietnam-China relations in particular.BUSINESS & ECONOMICS / International / EconomicsbisacshVietnamForeign relationsChinaChinaForeign relationsVietnamBUSINESS & ECONOMICS / International / Economics.327.510597Le Hong Hiep1594002ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute,UkCbUPUkCbUPBOOK9910823551703321Living next to the giant4072670UNINA
