It proposes a typology of the systems according to their main formal and semantic characteristics. It also makes some proposals concerning the historical origins and grammaticisation of these systems, and suggestions regarding the grammatical relations involved. In addition, an attempt is made to situate the phenomenon of verb classification within the context of related verbal phenomena such as serial verb constructions, nominal incorporation, and complex predicates.Australian languagesVerb phraseAustralian languagesSemanticsGrammar, Comparative and generalSyntaxNyulnyul language K13aiatsislNgarinyin language K18aiatsislJaminjung language N18aiatsislNgaliwurru language N19aiatsislWagiman language N27aiatsislNgan'gi language N157aiatsislAlawa language N92aiatsislMiriwoong / Miriuwung language K29aiatsislWarndarrang language N120aiatsislMangarrayi language N78aiatsislWarlpiri language C15aiatsislYingkarta language W19aiatsislYawuru language K1aiatsislBardi language K15aiatsislAustralian languagesVerb phrase.Australian languagesSemantics.Grammar, Comparative and generalSyntax.Nyulnyul language K13Ngarinyin language K18Jaminjung language N18Ngaliwurru language N19Wagiman language N27Ngan'gi language N157Alawa language N92Miriwoong / Miriuwung language K29Warndarrang language N120Mangarrayi language N78Warlpiri language C15Yingkarta language W19Yawuru language K1Bardi language K15499/.15EE 1810rvkMcGregor William1952-1684192MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQAuAdUSABOOK9910822819103321Verb classification in Australian languages4055525UNINA
