The 2006/07 (July-June) fiscal strategy focused on reducing domestic debt. In the third Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility (PRGF) review, the end-June target for domestic debt repayments was increased substantially. Domestic borrowing exceeded the adjusted target at end-December 2006 by MK 4.1 billion (0.9 percent of GDP). The government partially redressed this overrun by curtailing discretionary spending in the fourth quarter, as the scale of the end-December overrun became clear.IMF Staff Country Reports; Country Report ;No. 2008/003PovertyGovernment policyMalawiBanks and BankingimfExports and ImportsimfFinancial Risk ManagementimfPublic FinanceimfStatisticsimfMacroeconomicsimfInternational Lending and Debt ProblemsimfDebtimfDebt ManagementimfSovereign DebtimfCurrent Account AdjustmentimfShort-term Capital MovementsimfNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: GeneralimfBanksimfDepository InstitutionsimfMicro Finance InstitutionsimfMortgagesimfGeneral Aggregative Models: GeneralimfInternational economicsimfPublic finance & taxationimfFinanceimfBankingimfEconometrics & economic statisticsimfExternal debtimfDebt reliefimfDomestic debtimfPublic debtimfBalance of payments assistanceimfAsset and liability managementimfPublic financial management (PFM)imfDebts, ExternalimfDebts, PublicimfBalance of paymentsimfFinance, PublicimfBanks and bankingimfExpenditures, PublicimfMalawiEconomic conditionsMalawiimfPovertyGovernment policyBanks and BankingExports and ImportsFinancial Risk ManagementPublic FinanceStatisticsMacroeconomicsInternational Lending and Debt ProblemsDebtDebt ManagementSovereign DebtCurrent Account AdjustmentShort-term Capital MovementsNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: GeneralBanksDepository InstitutionsMicro Finance InstitutionsMortgagesGeneral Aggregative Models: GeneralInternational economicsPublic finance & taxationFinanceBankingEconometrics & economic statisticsExternal debtDebt reliefDomestic debtPublic debtBalance of payments assistanceAsset and liability managementPublic financial management (PFM)Debts, ExternalDebts, PublicBalance of paymentsFinance, PublicBanks and bankingExpenditures, Public332.152DcWaIMFBOOK9910821272503321Malawi844500UNINA
