Using the 1995 international input-output data for APEC member countries, we numerically simulate a general equilibrium model to study the effects of abolishing existing tariffs under the assumption that each member country is large enough to affect the prices of goods and services produced in the region. We find that the responsiveness of prices plays an important role in easing a possible adverse effect of trade on relative wages.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2006/155Equilibrium (Economics)Econometric modelsInternational tradeEconometric modelsPricesEconometric modelsWagesEconometric modelsEmpirical Studies of TradeimfExistence and Stability Conditions of EquilibriumimfExports and ImportsimfImportsimfIncome economicsimfInternational economicsimfInternational Trade OrganizationsimfInternational tradeimfLabor marketimfLaborimfLabourimfNeoclassical Models of TradeimfOccupational LicensingimfProfessional Labor MarketsimfPublic finance & taxationimfSkilled laborimfTariffimfTariffsimfTaxationimfTaxesimfTrade and Labor Market InteractionsimfTrade PolicyimfTrade: GeneralimfWage DifferentialsimfWage gapimfWage Level and StructureimfWagesimfWages, Compensation, and Labor Costs: GeneralimfUnited StatesimfEquilibrium (Economics)Econometric models.International tradeEconometric models.PricesEconometric models.WagesEconometric models.Empirical Studies of TradeExistence and Stability Conditions of EquilibriumExports and ImportsImportsIncome economicsInternational economicsInternational Trade OrganizationsInternational tradeLabor marketLaborLabourNeoclassical Models of TradeOccupational LicensingProfessional Labor MarketsPublic finance & taxationSkilled laborTariffTariffsTaxationTaxesTrade and Labor Market InteractionsTrade PolicyTrade: GeneralWage DifferentialsWage gapWage Level and StructureWagesWages, Compensation, and Labor Costs: GeneralTokutsu Ichiro1768146Saito Mika1768147IMF Institute.DcWaIMFBOOK9910817458203321The Impact of Tradeon Wages4230079UNINA
