The main result in the paper is that emigration has a strong and positive effect on Mexican wages. There is also evidence for increasing wage inequality in Mexico due to emigration. Simple welfare calculations based on a labor demand-supply framework suggest that the aggregate welfare loss to Mexico due to emigration is small. However, there is a significant distributional impact between labor and other factors.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2006/086Wage differentialsMexicoEconometric modelsWagesMexicoEconometric modelsLaborimfEconomic TheoryimfEmigration and ImmigrationimfInternational MigrationimfWage Level and StructureimfWage DifferentialsimfInternational Factor Movements and International Business: GeneralimfEducation: GeneralimfWages, Compensation, and Labor Costs: GeneralimfAgriculture: Aggregate Supply and Demand AnalysisimfPricesimfLabor Force and Employment, Size, and StructureimfMigration, immigration & emigrationimfLabourimfincome economicsimfEducationimfEconomic theory & philosophyimfMigrationimfWagesimfSupply shocksimfLabor forceimfPopulation and demographicsimfEconomic theoryimfEmigration and immigrationimfSupply and demandimfLabor marketimfMexicoEmigration and immigrationEconometric modelsMexicoimfWage differentialsEconometric models.WagesEconometric models.LaborEconomic TheoryEmigration and ImmigrationInternational MigrationWage Level and StructureWage DifferentialsInternational Factor Movements and International Business: GeneralEducation: GeneralWages, Compensation, and Labor Costs: GeneralAgriculture: Aggregate Supply and Demand AnalysisPricesLabor Force and Employment, Size, and StructureMigration, immigration & emigrationLabourincome economicsEducationEconomic theory & philosophyMigrationWagesSupply shocksLabor forcePopulation and demographicsEconomic theoryEmigration and immigrationSupply and demandLabor marketMishra Prachi1090676International Monetary Fund.Western Hemisphere Dept.DcWaIMFBOOK9910811446103321Emigration and Wages in Source Countries3927874UNINA
