Emerging Trends in Veterinary Virology is a review of selected topics about viral infections in animals. 11 chapters cover recent findings about specific viruses that infect a variety of hosts. The contents cover several types of veterinary infections in birds (Infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT), avian leucosis), cats (feline rabies), dogs (canine distemper), bovines (viral leukemia) and equines (hendra virus disease). Additionally, special topics such as the epidemiology of veterinary zoonoses and SARS are also covered. The book provides updated information for researchers (virologists, microbiologists), students and veterinarians, alike.Veterinary medicineVirologyTechniqueVeterinary MedicineMedicalVeterinary medicine.VirologyTechnique.636.089Abubakar Muhammad1361543Wensman Jonas Johansson1691611MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910810521203321Emerging Trends in Veterinary Virology4068119UNINA04657nam 22007695 450 991056828710332120251107143028.09789811909917981190991110.1007/978-981-19-0991-7(CKB)5680000000039066EBL6992134(AU-PeEL)EBL6992134(MiAaPQ)EBC6992134(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/84376(DE-He213)978-981-19-0991-7(ODN)ODN0010070949(oapen)doab84376(EXLCZ)99568000000003906620220516d2022 u| 0engur|n|---|||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierJourneys Towards Intercultural Capability in Language Classrooms Voices from Students, Teachers and Researchers /by Martin East, Constanza Tolosa, Jocelyn Howard, Christine Biebricher, Adèle Scott1st ed. 2022.2022Singapore :Springer Nature Singapore :Imprint: Springer,2022.1 online resource (193 p.)Intercultural Communication and Language Education,2520-1743Description based upon print version of record.9789811909900 9811909903 Beginning the journeys towards intercultural capability -- Studies on the intercultural dimension across the globe -- The intercultural dimension in the New Zealand language teaching context -- Introducing the two-year study -- Journeys towards intercultural capability: The students’ voices -- Journeys towards intercultural capability: The teachers’ voices -- Journeys towards intercultural capability: The researchers’ voices -- Journeys towards intercultural capability: Retrospective reflections. This open access book presents an account of five teacher educators who, over a two-year period, undertook a research project with five teachers of languages other than English in pre-secondary schools in New Zealand. Their collaborative aim was to develop students’ intercultural capability in the context of learning a new language. The school participants were typical of many in New Zealand’s pre-secondary sector; the teachers had limited language-teaching experience and limited prior knowledge of how to develop the intercultural dimension in their language classrooms, and the students were largely at the beginning stages of learning a new language. The book discusses the findings obtained using a range of data collection methods, including classroom observations, reflective interviews with teachers, and focus groups with students. It documents instances of breakthrough and growth for teachers and students and reveals the problems and tensions. Lastly, it reflects on the lessons learned in the course of this project and speculates on the roles that teacher education needs to play if the goal of intercultural capability is to be better achieved in language classrooms, both in New Zealand and internationally. Of interest to a wide range of stakeholders in the area of education, the book allows readers to gain an understanding of the opportunities of working with teachers through an action–research model, alongside the challenges that this brings and ways in which intercultural capability may be strengthened.Intercultural Communication and Language Education,2520-1743Language and languagesStudy and teachingEducationLanguage EducationEducationLanguage EducationEnsenyament de la llenguathubEducació interculturalthubNova ZelandathubLlibres electrònicsthubLanguage and languagesStudy and teaching.Education.Language Education.Education.Language Education.Ensenyament de la llenguaEducació intercultural418.0071EDU018000EDU029080LAN009000bisacshEast Martin950796Tolosa Constanza1238231Howard Jocelyn1238232Biebricher Christine1238233Scott Adele1951-1246166AU-PeELAU-PeELAU-PeELBOOK9910568287103321Journeys Towards Intercultural Capability in Language Classrooms2889663UNINA
