So elegant wie scharfzüngig führt Algarotti darin seine Vorstellungen von einer grundlegenden Reform der Oper nach den Maßgaben einer aufgeklärten Ästhetik aus, wobei er auch auf seine Erfahrungen als spiritus rector der friderizianischen Oper in Berlin und Potsdam zurückgreifen kann.
