This book examines an array of different distortions that are causing food supply chain dysfunction in many countries, particularly for staple non-perishable foods such as grains and pulses. It outlines the underlying changes that are currently occurring, which will have an influence on the direction of future food supply chains, and provides some solutions to the current food security problem. Based on an analysis from total regulation in the 1950s-60s through to deregulation during the 1980-90s, as well as post-deregulation, it focuses on liberal trade and deregulation as a more successful solution to stabilising food supply chains and distribution of storable food commodities. The author highlights a common thread of either farmers using government for vested-interest intervention, or autocratic governments seeking market and supply-chain power. The book examines the role of government as expounded or perceived by government themselves after 50 years of food supply chain intervention. It discusses the role of 'trade' markets and cluster industries and how these can quickly disintegrate when price distortions occur. The author studies both food importing and exporting countries and concludes that commingled commoditization of food has lead to increasing hoarding, corruption, and dependence on food aid. He argues that a competitive food supply chain that has minimum intervention is more likely to provide future food security. In conclusion the book emphasises that adequate rewards and competition in the supply chain are the essences of sustainable food security"--Provided by publisher.Earthscan Food and AgricultureFood industry and tradeSecurity measuresFood supplyGovernment policyFood securitySustainable agricultureFood industry and tradeSecurity measures.Food supplyGovernment policy.Food security.Sustainable agriculture.338.1/9SOC055000bisacshWilliams John1949-,309311MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910791921603321Competition and efficiency in international food supply chains3756890UNINA03575nam 2200637 450 991082257590332120230306052225.01-4426-9836-51-4426-6728-110.3138/9781442698369(CKB)3710000000217769(EBL)3294528(SSID)ssj0001375256(PQKBManifestationID)11789456(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001375256(PQKBWorkID)11335489(PQKB)10053831(MiAaPQ)EBC4672980(CEL)448552(OCoLC)890934586(CaBNVSL)slc00234954(MiAaPQ)EBC3294528(DE-B1597)465445(OCoLC)889226888(DE-B1597)9781442698369(Au-PeEL)EBL4672980(CaPaEBR)ebr11258630(OCoLC)1371587614(MdBmJHUP)musev2_106452(EXLCZ)99371000000021776920160916h20142014 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrA bibliography of Robertson Davies /Carl Spadoni and Judith Skelton GrantToronto, [Canada] ;Buffalo, [New York] ;London, [England] :University of Toronto Press,2014.©20141 online resource (539 p.)0-8020-3938-3 Includes bibliographical references and index.Frontmatter --Contents --Acknowledgments --Introduction --Location Symbols --Chronology --Illustrations --A Section: Separate Publications --B Section: Contributions to Books --C Section: Contributions to Periodicals (Newspapers, Journals, Magazines, and Annuals) --D Section: Reports of Speeches, Lectures, and Public Presentations --E Section: Speeches and Lectures Given --F Section: Interviews --G Section: Unsigned Articles and Editorials --H Section: Translations (organized under each language) --I Section: Films, Recordings by Davies, Audio Books, and Braille --J Section: Contributions in Articles and Books by Others --Index.AnnotationRobertson Davies (1913-1995), one of Canada's most distinguished authors of the twentieth century, was known for his work as a novelist, playwright, critic, journalist, and professor. This descriptive bibliography is dedicated to his writing career, covering all publications from his first venture into print at the age of nine to works published posthumously to 2011. Entries include each of Davies' signed publications and those pseudonymous or anonymous writings he acknowledged having written. Included are his plays, novels, journalism, academic writing, translations, interviews, speeches, lectures, unsigned articles and editorials, films, audio recordings, and multimedia editions. Also listed is a generous sampling of unsigned articles and editorials. Using Davies' archives and the archives of other authors, organizations, and publishers, Carl Spadoni and Judith Skelton Grant present A Bibliography of Robertson Davies to serve the research demands of Canadian literature and book history scholars.LITERARY CRITICISM / CanadianbisacshLITERARY CRITICISM / Canadian.016.813/54Spadoni Carl1636845Grant Judith SkeltonMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910822575903321A bibliography of Robertson Davies3978314UNINA01363nam0-22004211i-450 99000204816040332120250404124027.0000204816FED01000204816(Aleph)000204816FED0120030910g18371847km-y0itay50------bafreFR 001yyHistoire naturelle des insectesAptèresLe Baron Walckenaer, Paul CervaisParisLibrairie Encyclopedique de Roret1837-18474 v., 52 tv. in vol. a parte28 cmSuites à Buffondal vol.3 ha come secondo autore Paul GervaisAtlas (52 tav. col.) / par Walckenaer et Paul GervaisApterigotiVolumi di pregio595.71Walckenaer,Charles Athanase<1771-1852>87265Gervais,Paul87266ITUNINARICAUNIMARCBK99000204816040332161 VI B.5/102.1-5Opv.6563(18/11/97)DAGENA MUSA 9-103/2645/25FAGBCA MUSA 9-203/2646/25FAGBCA MUSA 9-303/2647/25FAGBCA MUSA 9-403/2648/25FAGBCDAGENFAGBCAptères406482Histoire naturelle des insectes406481UNINA
