Through invited presentations and discussions, participants examined the use of microbial genomics to explore the diversity, evolution, and adaptation of microorganisms in a wide variety of environments; the molecular mechanisms of disease emergence and epidemiology; and the ways that genomic technologies are being applied to disease outbreak trace back and microbial surveillance. Points that were emphasized by many participants included the need to develop robust standardized sampling protocols, the importance of having the appropriate metadata, data analysis and data management challenges, and information sharing in real time. The Science and Applications of Microbial Genomics summarizes this workshop."--Title homepage.MetagenomicsMicrobial genomicsCommunicable diseasesElectronic books.Metagenomics.Microbial genomics.Communicable diseases.572.8/629Choffnes Eileen R.Olsen LeighAnneWizemann Theresa M.Institute of Medicine (U.S.).Forum on Microbial Threats,MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910464354503321The science and applications of microbial genomics2443723UNINA04561nam 2200661 450 991045381970332120200520144314.01-4985-5042-80-7391-8805-4(CKB)2550000001256857(EBL)1664775(SSID)ssj0001180061(PQKBManifestationID)12444122(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001180061(PQKBWorkID)11198814(PQKB)11450956(MiAaPQ)EBC1664775(Au-PeEL)EBL1664775(CaPaEBR)ebr10859990(CaONFJC)MIL588585(OCoLC)876592221(EXLCZ)99255000000125685720140224h20142014 uy| 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrIndigenous conflict management strategies global perspectives /edited by Akanmu G. "As Long As It'S Not Linkin Park Z ": Popularity, Distinction, And Status In The AMV Subculture --Contributors --IndexIn recent years, otaku culture has emerged as one of Japan's major cultural exports and as a genuinely transnational phenomenon. This timely volume investigates how this once marginalized popular culture has come to play a major role in Japan's identity at home and abroad. In the American context, the word otaku is best translated as "geek"-an ardent fan with highly specialized knowledge and interests. But it is associated especially with fans of specific Japan-based cultural genres, including anime, manga, and video games. Most important of all, as this collection shows, is the way otaku culture represents a newly participatory fan culture in which fans not only organize around niche interests but produce and distribute their own media content. In this collection of essays, Japanese and American scholars offer richly detailed descriptions of how this once stigmatized Japanese youth culture created its own alternative markets and cultural products such as fan fiction, comics, costumes, and remixes, becoming a major international force that can challenge the dominance of commercial media. By exploring the rich variety of otaku culture from multiple perspectives, this groundbreaking collection provides fascinating insights into the present and future of cultural production and distribution in the digital age.SubcultureFans (Persons)Popular cultureJapanPopular cultureJapanese influencesAnimated filmsHistory and criticismComic books, strips, etcJapanHistory and criticismJapanCivilization1945-Subculture.Fans (Persons)Popular culturePopular cultureJapanese influences.Animated filmsHistory and criticism.Comic books, strips, etc.History and criticism.306.487306.1 FANItō Mizuko928219Okabe Daisuke1519753Tsuji Izumi1976-1519754MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910790274603321Fandom unbound3758033UNINA05047nam 22007335 450 991025415130332120200630212427.03-319-54145-510.1007/978-3-319-54145-7(CKB)3710000001094973(DE-He213)978-3-319-54145-7(MiAaPQ)EBC4819687(PPN)199768900(EXLCZ)99371000000109497320170307d2017 u| 0engurnn|008mamaatxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierApplications of Radiation Chemistry in the Fields of Industry, Biotechnology and Environment /edited by Margherita Venturi, Mila D’Angelantonio1st ed. 2017.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2017.1 online resource (IX, 297 p.) The scope of coverage is all areas of chemical science including the interfaces with related disciplines such as biology, medicine and materials science. The goal of each thematic volume is to give the non-specialist reader, whether in academia or industry, a comprehensive insight into an area where new research is emerging which is of interest to a larger scientific audience. Each review within the volume critically surveys one aspect of that topic and places it within the context of the volume as a whole. The most significant developments of the last 5 to 10 years are presented using selected examples to illustrate the principles discussed. The coverage is not intended to be an exhaustive summary of the field or include large quantities of data, but should rather be conceptual, concentrating on the methodological thinking that will allow the non-specialist reader to understand the information presented. Contributions also offer an outlook on potential future developments in the field.Topics in Current Chemistry Collections,2367-4067Nuclear chemistryRadiation protectionRadiation—Safety measuresChemical engineeringBiotechnologyMedical physicsRadiationNuclear Chemistryhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/C31000Effects of Radiation/Radiation Protectionhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/U13003Industrial Chemistry/Chemical Engineeringhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/C27000Biotechnologyhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/C12002Medical and Radiation Physicshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P27060Nuclear chemistry.Radiation protection.Radiation—Safety measures.Chemical engineering.Biotechnology.Medical physics.Radiation.Nuclear Chemistry.Effects of Radiation/Radiation Protection.Industrial Chemistry/Chemical Engineering.Biotechnology.Medical and Radiation Physics.541.38Venturi Margheritaedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtD’Angelantonio Milaedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910254151303321Applications of Radiation Chemistry in the Fields of Industry, Biotechnology and Environment1560498UNINA
