Spectrum for Bethe-Cayley Trees -- Bibliography -- Author Index -- Subject IndexThis book presents a comprehensive overview of the sum rule approach to spectral analysis of orthogonal polynomials, which derives from Gábor Szego's classic 1915 theorem and its 1920 extension. Barry Simon emphasizes necessary and sufficient conditions, and provides mathematical background that until now has been available only in journals. Topics include background from the theory of meromorphic functions on hyperelliptic surfaces and the study of covering maps of the Riemann sphere with a finite number of slits removed. This allows for the first book-length treatment of orthogonal polynomials for measures supported on a finite number of intervals on the real line. In addition to the Szego and Killip-Simon theorems for orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle (OPUC) and orthogonal polynomials on the real line (OPRL), Simon covers Toda lattices, the moment problem, and Jacobi operators on the Bethe lattice. Recent work on applications of universality of the CD kernel to obtain detailed asymptotics on the fine structure of the zeros is also included. The book places special emphasis on OPRL, which makes it the essential companion volume to the author's earlier books on OPUC.Porter LecturesSpectral theory (Mathematics)Orthogonal polynomialsElectronic books.Spectral theory (Mathematics)Orthogonal polynomials.515/.55SK 680rvkSimon Barry1946-41965MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910459123003321Szegö's theorem and its descendants2462665UNINA02408nam 22004453u 450 991079006140332120210107003926.0(CKB)2670000000085996(EBL)557339(OCoLC)652654416(MiAaPQ)EBC557339(EXLCZ)99267000000008599620131216d2010|||| u|| |engur|n|---|||||Afterimage[electronic resource] Film, Trauma And The HolocaustPhiladelphia Temple University Press20101 online resource (230 p.)Description based upon print version of record.1-59213-208-1 Contents; Preface; Acknowledgments; 1. Afterimage presents a theory of posttraumatic film based on the encounter between cinema and the Holocaust. Locating its origin in the vivid shock of wartime footage, Afterimage focuses on a group of crucial documentary and fiction films that were pivotal to the spread of this cinematic form across different nations and genres.Joshua Hirsch exploresHolocaust, Jewish (1939-1945), in motion picturesHolocaust, Jewish (1939-1945), in motion picturesWar films - History and criticismWar films -- History and criticismHolocaust, Jewish (1939-1945), in motion pictures.Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945), in motion pictures.War films - History and criticism.War films -- History and criticism.791.43/658791.43658Hirsch Joshua1485948AU-PeELAU-PeELAU-PeELBOOK9910790061403321Afterimage3705300UNINA
