Hebrew construct phrases with "daughter" and "virgin" as nomen regens /Magnar KartveitBerlin :Walter de Gruyter,[2013]©20131 online resource (208 p.)Beihefte zur Zeitschrift für die alttestamentliche Wissenschaft ;Volume 447Description based upon print version of record.3-11-030894-0 Includes bibliographical references (pages 185-193) and index.Front matter --Preface --Contents --Chapter 1: Signs of Zion --Chapter 2: Does "Daughter of Zion" Refer to a Collective or an Individual? --Chapter 3: "Daughter (of) Zion" in Recent Research --Chapter 4: The Genitive and the Construct State in Semitic Languages --Chapter 5: Semantic Analysis of the Construct Phrases with "Daughter" and/or "Virgin" --Chapter 6: Can Nomen Regens in Biblical Hebrew be a Metaphor Applied (in Apposition?) to Nomen Rectum? --Chapter 7: Dear Zion --Bibliography --Index of Modern Authors --Index of Ancient Sources --Subject IndexThe phrase "Daughter of Zion" is in recent Bible translations often rendered "Daughter Zion". The discussion behind this change has continued for decades, but lacks proper linguistic footing. Parlance in grammars, dictionaries, commentaries and textbooks is often confusing. The present book seeks to remedy this defect by treating all relevant expressions from a linguistic point of view. To do this, it also discusses the understanding of Hebrew construct phrases, and finds that while there is a morphological category of genitive in Akkadian, Ugaritic and Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic and Syriac do not display it. The use of this term as a syntactical category is unfortunate, and the term should be avoided in Hebrew grammar. Metaphor theory and the use of irony are also tools in the discussion of the phrases. As a result of the treatment, the author finds that there are some Hebrew construct phrases where nomen regens describes the following nomen rectum, and the description may be metaphorical, in some cases also ironical. This seems to be the case with "Daughter of Zion" and similar phrases. This understanding calls for a revision of the translation of the phrases, and new translations are suggested.Beihefte zur Zeitschrift für die alttestamentliche Wissenschaft ;447.Construct state (Grammar)Hebrew languageNounWomen in the BibleHebrew language.Semitics.grammar.metaphor.Construct state (Grammar)Hebrew languageNoun.Women in the Bible.792.4/554Kartveit Magnar1946-1545714MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910789072603321Rejoice, dear Zion3823077UNINA06208nam 22007455 450 991102216160332120260622124102.0978303190577310.1007/978-3-031-90577-3(PPN)293318204(CKB)40420162600041(MiAaPQ)EBC32271555(Au-PeEL)EBL32271555(DE-He213)978-3-031-90577-3(OCoLC)1534804066(EXLCZ)994042016260004120250825d2025 u| 0engur|||||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierParadigm Shifts in Communication, Embedded Systems, Machine Learning, and Signal Processing Third International Conference, PCEMS 2024, Nagpur, India, November 11–12, 2024, Revised Selected Papers, Part II /edited by Deep Gupta, Vipin Kamble, Vishal Satpute, Ashwin Kothari1st ed. 2025.Cham :Springer Nature Switzerland :Imprint: Springer,2025.1 online resource (602 pages)Communications in Computer and Information Science,1865-0937 ;24919783031905766 Web-based Application for detection of Gingival Phenotype in Preventive Dentistry using Artificial Intelligence -- AutoBill: An Integrated AI-Powered Autonomous Checkout System -- Multiple Controls Wheelchair for Elderly People & Lower Limb Disabilities for Hilly Region -- Web-based Intelligent Chatbot for Depression Therapy -- Design of RAM cell using Quantum Dot Cellular Automata -- Voice Controlled Wheelchair For Blind With Hearing Assistant -- An IoT Based Soil Analysis for Smart Agriculture Using Machine Learning -- Multiband staircase shaped MIMO antenna for defence applications -- Design of a Fifth-Order Wideband Bandstop Filter Using Stepped Impedance Resonators -- PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF 16 BIT RISC PROCESSOR USING VEDIC MULTIPLIER -- All-optical XOR gate and Half Adder implementation using SPM and SOA -- Design and Optimization of a 6 GHz Circular Patch Antenna Using Machine Learning Algorithms -- Design of Triple Band Ultrathin Polarization Con-trolled Metamaterial Microwave Absorber with Multiple Resonating Structures -- Permittivity evaluation based algorithm for detecting optimal thickness range of composite materials at microwave frequencies -- Using Generative AI for Rapid Digital Prototyping of Industrial Design Sketches and 3D Renders -- PID and LQR Based Control for Quadrotor Landing on a Moving Platform -- Overhead Reduction in CSI Estimation for RIS-Enabled MISO Wireless Communications -- Analyzing Centrality Measures in Network Graphs: Algorithms, Applications, and Heuristics -- Towards Safer Homes: AI-Driven Predictions for Domestic Violence Against Women -- Design and Performance Analysis of MIMO VLC for Vehicular Communication Systems -- Performance and Design Analysis of Visible Light Communication Systems amidst Optical Background Noise Utilizing Filtering Techniques -- UAV Assisted Secrecy Analysis for Future Wireless Communication -- REAL TIME EARLY CURVE ACCIDENT WARNING SYSTEM -- Activity Detection Based Performance Analysis in Cell Free Massive MIMO System -- Application of OTFS Modulation in Autonomous Vehicle Driving Systems for 6G Wireless Communication -- Geophysical Monitoring System for Landslide-Prone Areas Using OhmPi and ESP32 Integration -- A 2.4GHz PLL Design Using a Source Switched Charge Pump and An Active Loop Filter -- Unraveling the Dynamics of Classical Chaotic Systems and Strange Attractors: A Matlab-Based Exploration -- Power-Efficient URLLC with RIS-aided Rate Splitting Multiple Access -- Data transmission over x-pol and y-pol 1550 nm carrier for short reach optical fiber communications -- An Approach for Extraction of Relevant Contextual Information from Exercise Logs using Large Language Models -- A New MIMO Antenna with High Gain for 5G mm-Wave Application -- Dual-Band Antenna for Seamless 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz Connectivity -- Metaheuristic Optimization for 3D UAV Placement -- Multi-Feature Reinforcement Learning for Financial Market Decision Making. This two-volume set CCIS 2490-2491 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Third International Conference on Paradigm Shifts in Communication, Embedded Systems, Machine Learning, and Signal Processing, PCEMS 2024, held in Nagpur, India, during November 11–12, 2024.
