CONCLUSIONS""; ""REFERENCES""Banks will want to influence the bank regulator to favor their interests, and they typically have the means to do so. It is shown that such "regulatory capture" in banking does not imply ineffectual regulation; a "captured" regulator may impose very tight, costly prudential requirements to reduce negative spillovers of risk-taking by weaker banks. In these circumstances, differences in the regulatory regime across jurisdictions may persist because each adapts its regulations to suit its dominant incumbent institutions.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2006/034Banks and bankingState supervisionFinancial institutionsState supervisionBanks and BankingimfFinancial Risk ManagementimfBusiness and FinancialimfBanksimfDepository InstitutionsimfMicro Finance InstitutionsimfMortgagesimfFinancial Institutions and Services: Government Policy and RegulationimfGeneral Financial Markets: Government Policy and RegulationimfBankingimfFinancial services law & regulationimfEconomic & financial crises & disastersimfDeposit insuranceimfFinancial regulation and supervisionimfCapital adequacy requirementsimfBank regulationimfBanks and bankingimfCrisis managementimfFinancial services industryimfLaw and legislationimfAsset requirementsimfState supervisionimfUnited StatesimfBanks and bankingState supervision.Financial institutionsState supervision.Banks and BankingFinancial Risk ManagementBusiness and FinancialBanksDepository InstitutionsMicro Finance InstitutionsMortgagesFinancial Institutions and Services: Government Policy and RegulationGeneral Financial Markets: Government Policy and RegulationBankingFinancial services law & regulationEconomic & financial crises & disastersDeposit insuranceFinancial regulation and supervisionCapital adequacy requirementsBank regulationBanks and bankingCrisis managementFinancial services industryLaw and legislationAsset requirementsState supervisionInternational Monetary Fund.Monetary and Financial Systems Dept.DcWaIMFBOOK9910788699303321Regulatory Capture in Banking3673701UNINA
