The lessons we draw are of sufficiently general interest to be applicable to other countries or reforms of employment protection laws. Using a model that captures the characteristics of the French labor market, we simulate the effects of this reform on unemployment, employment, and welfare. We estimate that the CNE will lead to the creation of 70,000 additional jobs in the long run, but at the cost of a slight deterioration in welfare.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2006/301Labor contractFranceJob creationFranceLabor laws and legislationFranceLaborimfMacroeconomicsimfDemand and Supply of Labor: GeneralimfLabor ContractsimfUnemployment: Models, Duration, Incidence, and Job SearchimfUnemployment InsuranceimfSeverance PayimfPlant ClosingsimfMobility, Unemployment, and Vacancies: Public PolicyimfLabor Force and Employment, Size, and StructureimfLabor Economics: GeneralimfLabor DemandimfLabourimfincome economicsimfLabor marketsimfLabor forceimfUnemploymentimfJob creationimfLabor marketimfLabor economicsimfFranceimfLabor contractJob creationLabor laws and legislationLaborMacroeconomicsDemand and Supply of Labor: GeneralLabor ContractsUnemployment: Models, Duration, Incidence, and Job SearchUnemployment InsuranceSeverance PayPlant ClosingsMobility, Unemployment, and Vacancies: Public PolicyLabor Force and Employment, Size, and StructureLabor Economics: GeneralLabor DemandLabourincome economicsLabor marketsLabor forceUnemploymentJob creationLabor marketLabor economicsCahuc Pierre148516Carcillo Stéphane1176587International Monetary Fund.Fiscal Affairs Dept.DcWaIMFBOOK9910788519803321The Shortcomings of a Partial Release of Employment Protection Laws3670921UNINA
