Using the 1995 international input-output data for APEC member countries, we numerically simulate a general equilibrium model to study the effects of abolishing existing tariffs under the assumption that each member country is large enough to affect the prices of goods and services produced in the region. We find that the responsiveness of prices plays an important role in easing a possible adverse effect of trade on relative wages.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2006/155Equilibrium (Economics)Econometric modelsInternational tradeEconometric modelsPricesEconometric modelsWagesEconometric modelsExports and ImportsimfLaborimfTaxationimfNeoclassical Models of TradeimfEmpirical Studies of TradeimfTrade and Labor Market InteractionsimfExistence and Stability Conditions of EquilibriumimfTrade PolicyimfInternational Trade OrganizationsimfWages, Compensation, and Labor Costs: GeneralimfTrade: GeneralimfProfessional Labor MarketsimfOccupational LicensingimfWage Level and StructureimfWage DifferentialsimfLabourimfincome economicsimfPublic finance & taxationimfInternational economicsimfTariffsimfWagesimfImportsimfSkilled laborimfWage gapimfTaxesimfInternational tradeimfTariffimfLabor marketimfUnited StatesimfEquilibrium (Economics)Econometric models.International tradeEconometric models.PricesEconometric models.WagesEconometric models.Exports and ImportsLaborTaxationNeoclassical Models of TradeEmpirical Studies of TradeTrade and Labor Market InteractionsExistence and Stability Conditions of EquilibriumTrade PolicyInternational Trade OrganizationsWages, Compensation, and Labor Costs: GeneralTrade: GeneralProfessional Labor MarketsOccupational LicensingWage Level and StructureWage DifferentialsLabourincome economicsPublic finance & taxationInternational economicsTariffsWagesImportsSkilled laborWage gapTaxesInternational tradeTariffLabor marketTokutsu Ichiro1546580Saito Mika1509580IMF Institute.DcWaIMFBOOK9910788414103321The Impact of Tradeon Wages3802277UNINA
