The model in this paper, however, shows that the non-tradable sector may also generate high economic growth together with high export growth. Evidence shows that out of 71 "so-called" export-led growth episodes, only 37 of them are consistent with the "exports driving growth" hypothesis. Most of the remaining episodes (24 cases) experienced significant real exchange rate depreciation and are more likely to be characterized by "growth driving exports".IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2008/220ExportsEconometric modelsForeign exchange ratesEconometric modelsElasticity (Economics)Econometric modelsExports and ImportsimfForeign ExchangeimfEconomic TheoryimfProduction and Operations ManagementimfTrade: GeneralimfAgriculture: Aggregate Supply and Demand AnalysisimfPricesimfHuman CapitalimfSkillsimfOccupational ChoiceimfLabor ProductivityimfInternational economicsimfCurrencyimfForeign exchangeimfEconomic theory & philosophyimfMacroeconomicsimfExport performanceimfReal exchange ratesimfExportsimfDemand elasticityimfLabor productivityimfElasticityimfEconomicsimfHong Kong Special Administrative Region, People's Republic of ChinaimfExportsEconometric models.Foreign exchange ratesEconometric models.Elasticity (Economics)Econometric models.Exports and ImportsForeign ExchangeEconomic TheoryProduction and Operations ManagementTrade: GeneralAgriculture: Aggregate Supply and Demand AnalysisPricesHuman CapitalSkillsOccupational ChoiceLabor ProductivityInternational economicsCurrencyForeign exchangeEconomic theory & philosophyMacroeconomicsExport performanceReal exchange ratesExportsDemand elasticityLabor productivityElasticityEconomics382.6Yang Jie859922DcWaIMFBOOK9910788231603321An Analysis of So-Called Export-led Growth3704145UNINA
