Macro data show a systematic relationship between credit booms and economic expansions, rising asset prices, real appreciations and widening external deficits. Micro data show a strong association between credit booms and leverage ratios, firm values, and banking fragility. We also find that credit booms are larger in emerging economies, particularly in the nontradables sector; most emerging markets crises are associated with credit booms; and credit booms in emerging economies are often preceded by large capital inflows but not by financial reforms or productivity gains.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2008/226CreditEconometric modelsBusiness cyclesEconometric modelsExports and ImportsimfFinancial Risk ManagementimfMoney and Monetary PolicyimfMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralimfInternational InvestmentimfLong-term Capital MovementsimfFinancial CrisesimfMonetary economicsimfInternational economicsimfEconomic & financial crises & disastersimfCredit boomsimfCreditimfSudden stopsimfFinancial crisesimfCapital inflowsimfCapital movementsimfChileimfCreditEconometric models.Business cyclesEconometric models.Exports and ImportsFinancial Risk ManagementMoney and Monetary PolicyMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralInternational InvestmentLong-term Capital MovementsFinancial CrisesMonetary economicsInternational economicsEconomic & financial crises & disastersCredit boomsCreditSudden stopsFinancial crisesCapital inflowsCapital movements332.7Terrones Marco1084776Mendoza Enrique119545DcWaIMFBOOK9910788231203321An Anatomy of Credit Booms3704141UNINA
