This consistency is important within a monetary union because fiscal policy is the primary instrument through which national governments can influence macroeconomic performance. We comment on how surveillance might be improved by broadening the region's current criteria through alternative fiscal indicators, some focus on the scope and nature of external shocks, and attention to the consistency of policies in assuring the viability of the union and its fixed exchange rate regime.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2009/260Monetary policyAfrica, CentralMonetary unionsAfrica, CentralBanks and bankingAfrica, CentralInvestments: EnergyimfMacroeconomicsimfPublic FinanceimfTaxationimfFiscal PolicyimfBusiness Taxes and SubsidiesimfEnergy: GeneralimfNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: GeneralimfPublic finance & taxationimfInvestment & securitiesimfFiscal stanceimfFiscal policyimfOil, gas and mining taxesimfOilimfExpenditureimfPetroleum industry and tradeimfExpenditures, PublicimfAfrica, CentralEconomic integrationHistoryEquatorial Guinea, Republic ofimfMonetary policyMonetary unionsBanks and bankingInvestments: EnergyMacroeconomicsPublic FinanceTaxationFiscal PolicyBusiness Taxes and SubsidiesEnergy: GeneralNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: GeneralPublic finance & taxationInvestment & securitiesFiscal stanceFiscal policyOil, gas and mining taxesOilExpenditurePetroleum industry and tradeExpenditures, PublicIossifov Plamen1493491Takebe Misa1509567Zhan Zaijin1485139Kinoshita Noriaki1509568York Robert1092056International Monetary Fund.African Department.DcWaIMFBOOK9910788222703321Improving Surveillance Across the CEMAC Region3741531UNINA
