Their ubiquity indicates that gardens of the period conveyed darker, more disturbing themes than has been acknowledged. In The Monster in the Garden, Luke Morgan argues that the monster is a key figure in Renaissance culture. Monsters were ciphers for contemporary anxieties about normative social life and identity. Drawing on sixteenth-century medical, legal, and scientific texts, as well as recent scholarship on monstrosity, abnormality, and difference in early modern Europe, he considers the garden within a broader framework of inquiry. Developing a new conceptual model of Renaissance landscape design, Morgan argues that the presence of monsters was not incidental but an essential feature of the experience of gardens.Garden ornaments and furnitureItalyPsychological aspectsHistory16th centuryGardensSymbolic aspectsItalyHistory16th centuryGardens, RenaissanceItalyDesignHistory16th centuryGrotesqueItalyPsychological aspectsHistory16th centuryLandscape designItalyHistory16th centuryMonstersItalyPsychological aspectsHistory16th centuryARCHITECTURE / LandscapebisacshGarden ornaments and furniturePsychological aspectsHistoryGardensSymbolic aspectsHistoryGardens, RenaissanceDesignHistoryGrotesquePsychological aspectsHistoryLandscape designHistoryMonstersPsychological aspectsHistoryARCHITECTURE / Landscape.712.0945Morgan Luke, authttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut1044256DE-B1597DE-B1597BOOK9910487549503321The Monster in the Garden2469783UNINA01823nam 2200469 a 450 991078687040332120230801230828.00-9829924-4-0(CKB)2670000000372526(EBL)3134497(SSID)ssj0001055103(PQKBManifestationID)11567510(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001055103(PQKBWorkID)11007051(PQKB)10894892(MiAaPQ)EBC3134497(EXLCZ)99267000000037252620130731d2012 uy 0spaur|n|---|||||txtccrSuperar el TDAH Sin Medicación[electronic resource] Guía para Padres y Educadores : Español Edição /La Asociación para Jóvenes, Niños y Psicología NaturalNewark, N.J.
