Using an unbalanced panel of 167 countries over the period 1991 - 2009, the results suggest that structural policies aimed at increasing labor and product market flexibility and reducing government size have a significant and positive impact on employment elasticities. In addition, the results also suggest that in order to maximize the positive impact on the responsiveness of employment to economic activity, structural policies have to be complemented with macroeconomic policies aimed at increasing macroeconomic stability.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2012/218Job creationFull employment policiesFinance: GeneralimfLaborimfMacroeconomicsimfMacroeconomics: Consumption, Saving, Production, Employment and Investment: OtherimfMobility, Unemployment, and Vacancies: GeneralimfBusiness FluctuationsimfCyclesimfEmploymentimfUnemploymentimfWagesimfIntergenerational Income DistributionimfAggregate Human CapitalimfAggregate Labor ProductivityimfLabor Economics PoliciesimfGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)imfDemand and Supply of Labor: GeneralimfInstitutions and the MacroeconomyimfLabourimfincome economicsimfFinanceimfLabor market policyimfCommodity marketsimfLabor marketsimfStructural policiesimfFinancial marketsimfMacrostructural analysisimfEconomic theoryimfManpower policyimfCommodity exchangesimfLabor marketimfNew ZealandimfJob creation.Full employment policies.Finance: GeneralLaborMacroeconomicsMacroeconomics: Consumption, Saving, Production, Employment and Investment: OtherMobility, Unemployment, and Vacancies: GeneralBusiness FluctuationsCyclesEmploymentUnemploymentWagesIntergenerational Income DistributionAggregate Human CapitalAggregate Labor ProductivityLabor Economics PoliciesGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)Demand and Supply of Labor: GeneralInstitutions and the MacroeconomyLabourincome economicsFinanceLabor market policyCommodity marketsLabor marketsStructural policiesFinancial marketsMacrostructural analysisEconomic theoryManpower policyCommodity exchangesLabor marketFurceri Davide1157580Crivelli Ernesto1481156Toujas-Bernate Joël1578668DcWaIMFBOOK9910786486403321Can Policies Affect Employment Intensity of Growth?
