Frecuentemente son las poblaciones más vulnerables las que realizan dicho trabajo de recolección, segregación, tratamiento, hasta de valorización y reúso. A pesar de cumplir este papel de bien común, sufren a veces la falta de acceso a los servicios básicos de evacuación de sus residuos. Desde hace una década se están mejorando enormemente estos servicios. Habiendo sido amenazas, los residuos se transforman en recursos. Este proceso también beneficia a las poblaciones que permiten estas transformaciones (recicladores, agricultores, municipalidades, etc.), reconociendo su utilidad social. Este libro ofrece una cartografía de la ciudad de Lima a través del manejo de sus residuos sólidos y aguas residuales. Con este objetivo, también se identifican las bases del ordenamiento territorial de la capital peruana, enfocado en la dualidad entre las ideas de vulnerabilidad y sostenibilidad. El análisis de las prácticas y las políticas públicas permite ilustrar los conceptos de desigualdades ecológicas y ambientales.
