The largest of a network of fortifications, Karak castle became the administrative centre of an important Crusader lordship. After 1188 Karak and its territories were incorporated into the Ayyubid, Mamluk and Ottoman sultanates. This book traces the history of Karak and the surrounding lands during the Middle Islamic period (c.1100-1650 CE). The book offers an innovative methodology, combining primary textual sources (in Latin and Arabic) with archaeological data (principally the ceramic record) as a means to reconstruct the fluctuating economic relations between Karak and other regions of the Middle East and eastern Mediterranean.Islamic history and civilization ;v. 72.AyyubidsHistoryMamelukesHistoryIslamic civilizationKarak (Jordan : Province)HistoryAyyubidsHistory.MamelukesHistory.Islamic civilization.956.95/6303Milwright Marcus1537073MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910792456403321The fortress of the raven3856560UNINA03275nam 22006014a 450 991078505760332120230721015934.00-8173-8250-X(CKB)2670000000030204(EBL)547676(OCoLC)650060157(SSID)ssj0000457278(PQKBManifestationID)11298339(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000457278(PQKBWorkID)10415107(PQKB)10139314(MiAaPQ)EBC547676(MdBmJHUP)muse8930(Au-PeEL)EBL547676(CaPaEBR)ebr10408259(EXLCZ)99267000000003020420090223d2009 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrCeramics, chronology, and community patterns[electronic resource] an archaeological study at Moundville /Vincas P. Yet, in spite of all these investigations, many aspects of the site's internal chronology remained unknown until the original 1983 publication of this volume. The author embarked on a detailed study of Moundville ceramics housed in museums and collections, and hammered out a new chronology for Moundville. This volume is a clearly written description of the analytical procedures employed on these ceramic samples and the neMississippian cultureAlabamaBlack Warrior River ValleyMississippian potteryAlabamaBlack Warrior River ValleyLand settlement patterns, PrehistoricAlabamaBlack Warrior River ValleyMoundville Archaeological Park (Moundville, Ala.)Black Warrior River Valley (Ala.)AntiquitiesMississippian cultureMississippian potteryLand settlement patterns, Prehistoric976.1/43Steponaitis Vincas P1502529MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910785057603321Ceramics, chronology, and community patterns3787084UNINA
