Global List of Invasive Garden Plants --Glossary --Resources --IndexIn his influential A Sand County Almanac, published at the beginning of the environmental movement in 1949, Aldo Leopold proposed a new ecological ethic to guide our stewardship of the planet. In this inspiring book, Sarah Hayden Reichard tells how we can bring Leopold's far-reaching vision to our gardens to make them more sustainable, lively, and healthy places. Today, gardening practices too often damage the environment: we deplete resources in our own soil while mining for soil amendments in far away places, or use water and pesticides in ways that can pollute lakes and rivers. Drawing from cutting edge research on urban horticulture, Reichard explores the many benefits of sustainable gardening and gives straightforward, practical advice on topics such as pest control, water conservation, living with native animals, mulching, and invasive species. The book includes a scorecard that allows readers to quickly evaluate the sustainability of their current practices, as well as an extensive list of garden plants that are invasive, what they do, and where they should be avoided.Sustainable horticultureNative plant gardeningPestsIntegrated controlSustainable horticulture.Native plant gardening.PestsIntegrated control.635/.048Reichard Sarah H1123912MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910785461403321The conscientious gardener3684030UNINA06940nam 22009014a 450 991078401040332120230721025507.01-280-93502-297866109350241-85359-973-510.21832/9781853599736(CKB)1000000000336994(EBL)307300(OCoLC)476087392(SSID)ssj0000125735(PQKBManifestationID)11132498(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000125735(PQKBWorkID)10047760(PQKB)11560770(MiAaPQ)EBC307300(DE-B1597)513556(OCoLC)1078914218(DE-B1597)9781853599736(Au-PeEL)EBL307300(CaPaEBR)ebr10189015(CaONFJC)MIL93502(EXLCZ)99100000000033699420070220d2007 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrCommunication disorders in Spanish speakers[electronic resource] theoretical, research and clinical aspects /edited by José G. Obler.Spanish speakers, whether in monolingual or bilingual situations, or in majority or minority contexts, represent a considerable population worldwide. Spanish speakers in the U.S. constitute an illustrative context of the challenges faced by speech-language practitioners to provide realistic services to an increasing and diverse Spanish-speaking caseload. There is still considerable paucity in the amount of literature on Hispanic individuals with clinical relevance in speech-language pathology. Particularly lacking are works that link both empirical and theoretical bases to evidence-based procedures for child and adult Spanish users with communication disorders. Further, because communication skills depend on multiple phenomena beyond strictly linguistic factors, speech-language students and practitioners require multidisciplinary bases to realistically understand Spanish clients’ communication performance. This volume attempts to address those gaps. This publication takes a multidisciplinary approach that integrates both theoretical and empirical grounds from Speech-Language Pathology, Neurolinguistics, Neuropsychology, Education, and Clinical Psychology to develop evidence-based clinical procedures for monolingual Spanish and bilingual Spanish-English children and adults with communication disorders.Communication disorders across languages.Communicative disordersTreatmentUnited StatesCommunicative disorders in childrenTreatmentUnited StatesBilingualismUnited StatesBilingualism in childrenUnited StatesEnglish languageAcquisitionSpanish languageAcquisitionHispanic AmericansLanguageHispanic American childrenLanguageBilingualismPhysiological aspectsCommunication disorders.Hispanic.Neurolinguistics.Spain.speech-language pathology.Communicative disordersTreatmentCommunicative disorders in childrenTreatmentBilingualismBilingualism in childrenEnglish languageAcquisition.Spanish languageAcquisition.Hispanic AmericansLanguage.Hispanic American childrenLanguage.BilingualismPhysiological aspects.362.196/855Centeno José G1543557Anderson Raquel Teresa1543558Obler Loraine K254046MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910784010403321Communication disorders in Spanish speakers3797077UNINA
