Under the Chinese Communist Party, "the intellectual" was first and foremost a widening classification of individuals based on Marxist thought. The party turned revolutionaries and otherwise ordinary people into subjects identified as usable but untrustworthy intellectuals, an identification that profoundly affected patterns of domination, interaction, and rupture within the revolutionary enterprise. Drawing on a wide range of data, Eddy U takes the reader on a journey that examines political discourses, revolutionary strategies, rural activities, urban registrations, workplace arrangements, organized protests, and theater productions. He lays out in colorful detail the formation of new identities, forms of organization, and associations in Chinese society. The outcome is a compelling picture of the mutual constitution of the intellectual and the Chinese socialist revolution, the legacy of which still affects ways of seeing, thinking, acting, and feeling in what is now a globalized China.Communism and intellectualsChinaHistory20th centurySocial stratificationChinaHistory20th centuryHISTORY / Asia / GeneralbisacshChinaIntellectual life1949-1976associations.chinese communist party.chinese society.compelling.formation of new identities.forms of organization.globalized china.intellectuals and chinese socialist revolution.marxist classification of individuals.organized protests.political discourses.revolutionary strategies.rural activities.study of chinese communism.theater productions.urban registrations.workplace arrangements.Communism and intellectualsHistorySocial stratificationHistoryHISTORY / Asia / General.305.5/5095109045U Eddyauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut0DE-B1597DE-B1597BOOK996312640003316Creating the Intellectual2080327UNISA03985nam 22006855 450 991078377490332120230617042244.01-280-55100-397866105510021-85359-845-310.21832/9781853598456(CKB)1000000000245114(EBL)255744(OCoLC)568232919(SSID)ssj0000156914(PQKBManifestationID)11160559(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000156914(PQKBWorkID)10131219(PQKB)11401552(DE-B1597)513585(OCoLC)1012839480(DE-B1597)9781853598456(MiAaPQ)EBC255744(EXLCZ)99100000000024511420200707h20052005 fg 0engurnn#---|u||utxtccrForeign Language Teachers and Intercultural Competence An Investigation in 7 Countries of Foreign Language Teachers' Views and Teaching Practices /Lies SercuBlue Ridge Summit, PA :Multilingual Matters,[2005]©20051 online resource (231 p.)Languages for Intercultural Communication and EducationDescription based upon print version of record.1-85359-844-5 Front matter --Contents --Foreword --Preface --Chapter 1: Teaching Foreign Languages in an Intercultural World --Chapter 2: Objectives of Foreign Language Teaching and Culture Teaching Time --Chapter 3: Familiarity and Contacts with Foreign Cultures --Chapter 4: Pupils’ Culture-and-language Learning Profile --Chapter 5: Culture Teaching Practices --Chapter 6: Culture in Foreign Language Teaching Materials --Chapter 7: Experiential Culture Learning Activities: School Trips and Exchange Project --Chapter 8: Opinions Regarding Different Facets of Intercultural Competence Teaching --Chapter 9: The Foreign Language and Intercultural Competence Teacher --Chapter 10: The Future of Intercultural Competence in Foreign Language Education: Recommendations for Professional Development, Educational Policy and Research --References --Appendix 1: Questionnaire --Appendix 2: Bonferroni Multiple Comparisons Test ResultsForeign Language Teachers and Intercultural Communication: An International Investigation reports on a study that focused on teachers’ beliefs regarding intercultural competence teaching in foreign language education. Its conclusions are based on data collected in a quantitative comparative study that comprises questionnaire answers received from teachers in seven countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Poland, Mexico, Greece, Spain and Sweden. It not only creates new knowledge on the variability, and relative consistency, of today’s foreign language teachers’ views regarding intercultural competence teaching in a number of countries, but also gives us a picture that is both more concrete and more comprehensive than previously known.Language and languages - Study and teachingLanguage and languagesStudy and teachingIntercultural communicationMulticultural educationCommunicative competenceForeign Language Teaching.intercultural competence.intercultural learning.Language and languages - Study and teaching.Language and languagesStudy and teachingIntercultural communicationMulticultural educationCommunicative competence418.00711Sercu Liesauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut1546491DE-B1597DE-B1597BOOK9910783774903321Foreign Language Teachers and Intercultural Competence3869787UNINA
