Hanes traces the roots of social progressivism in prewar Japan. Seki, trained as a political economist in the late 1890's, when Japan was focused single-mindedly on "increasing industrial production," distinguished himself early on as a people-centered, rather than a state-centered, national economist. After three years of advanced study in Europe at the turn of the century, during which he engaged Marxism and later steeped himself in the exciting new field of social economics, Seki was transformed into a progressive. The social reformism of Seki and others had its roots in a transnational fellowship of progressives who shared the belief that civilized nations should be able to forge a middle path between capitalism and socialism. Hanes's sweeping study permits us not only to weave social progressivism into the modern Japanese historical narrative but also to reconceive it as a truly transnational movement whose impact was felt across the Pacific as well as the Atlantic.Twentieth-century Japan.EconomistsJapanBiographyMayorsJapanBiographyOsaka (Japan)Economic conditionsJapanEconomic conditions1918-1945capital.capitalism.city politics.class.east asia.factory production.history.industrial production.industrial revolution.japan.japanese history.japanese industry.marxism.mayor.meiji restoration.modern japan.nation.national economy.osaka.political economics.politician.politics.prewar japan.progressive politics.seki hajime.social change.social economics.social progressivism.social reform.socialism.textile industry.textile mills.transnational history.transnational movement.urbanism.EconomistsMayors307.1/26/092BHanes Jeffrey E.1950-1558102Seki Hajime1873-1935.1558103MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910780378403321The city as subject3822230UNINA04498nam 22006975 450 991074115880332120260122134929.03-031-24389-710.1007/978-3-031-24389-9(MiAaPQ)EBC30703008(Au-PeEL)EBL30703008(DE-He213)978-3-031-24389-9(PPN)272270261(CKB)27991711400041(EXLCZ)992799171140004120230816d2023 u| 0engurcnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierBeyond Left and Right Handedness A Practice-based Approach to Assessing and Analysing Handedness Dimensions and Types /by Elke Kraus1st ed. 2023.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2023.1 online resource (297 pages)Print version: Kraus, Elke Beyond Left and Right Handedness Cham : Springer International Publishing AG,c2023 9783031243882 Includes bibliographical references and index.1 Introduction -- 2 Basics of handedness -- 3 Determining handedness -- 4 Possible causes of changing hand use -- 5 The development of the handedness profile -- 6 The current handedness profile -- 7 Proposal of a differentiation system "handedness type with variants" for the analysis of changing hand use -- 8 Ideas for intervention with handicapped children -- 9 Case studies from the field -- 10 A panorama: implication for practice, theory, and research.Handedness is a multidimensional phenomenon co-determined by polygenetic and developmental aspects, multifactorial influences and in some cases, pathological impact. It is important for professionals working with children, including those who are still undecided about their writing hand, to assess, analyse and understand the complexity of handedness comprehensively to prevent problems related to switched or atypical handedness. Beyond Left and Right Handedness uses a practice-based approach to handedness and systematically integrates theory, research and practice. Part I, ‘Theory and Research,’ critically evaluates and utilises the broad spectrum of the handedness literature as a theoretical basis for the development of handedness instruments. Part II, ‘Assessment and Analysis,’ presents diagnostic and analytical instruments developed by the author based on numerous in-depth studies and extensive clinical practice over 20 years. These include the HandednessProfile, a standardised assessment of various handedness dimensions; and the Handedness Typology, an analytical framework to interpret different types of handedness. Part III, ‘Implications for Practice,’ contains detailed case studies on assessment and treatment by professionals working with children presenting with unclear and/or atypical handedness. “This book provides the reader with a comprehensive and scholarly discussion of the topic, presenting a careful, in-depth description of all aspects of the topic and providing professionals with the necessary, evidence-based tools to address handedness in practice. It is an invaluable resource that is well situated in the latest evidence-based understanding of handedness and provides a comprehensive guide to addressing the important development of handedness.” - Prof. Dr. Helen Polatajko.Occupational therapyPediatricsClinical psychologySpeech therapyOccupational TherapyPediatricsClinical PsychologySpeech and Language TherapyLateralitat manualthubLateralitatthubNeurofisiologiathubLlibres electrònicsthubOccupational therapy.Pediatrics.Clinical psychology.Speech therapy.Occupational Therapy.Pediatrics.Clinical Psychology.Speech and Language Therapy.Lateralitat manualLateralitatNeurofisiologia378.16913094248Kraus Elke1424630MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910741158803321Beyond Left and Right Handedness3554013UNINA
