It proudly showcases reviews of both empirical and conceptual research in specific areas of health care management, including topics in three basic areas: reviews of empirical and conceptual research on health care industry-specific topics, e.g., role of physicians; reviews of empirical and conceptual research on different types of health care organizations focusing on issues specific to such organizations or their segments of the health care industry, e.g., hospitals, managed care organizations; and, reviews of empirical and conceptual research on health care organizations focusing on topics or variables which cover various sub-disciplines of management, e.g., organizational change or entrepreneurial opportunity recognition. New and established scholars discuss such topics within their expert area of research, as well as emerging themes and divergent views, giving their unique perspective on the directions that will help build theory and improve the practice of health care management.Advances in health care management ;v. 11.MedicalHealth Care DeliverybisacshBusiness & EconomicsManagementbisacshBusiness & EconomicsManagement SciencebisacshHealth systems & servicesbicsscMedical administration & managementbicsscHealth services administrationMedicalHealth Care Delivery.Business & EconomicsManagement.Business & EconomicsManagement Science.Health systems & services.Medical administration & management.Health services administration.362.1068Blair John D91256Fottler Myron D1484818Savage Grant T(Grant Theodore),1954-1163211UtOrBLWUtOrBLWBOOK9910781581803321Biennial review of health care management3834009UNINA04005oam 2200697Ia 450 991077758610332120240205171918.00-8018-8139-0(CKB)1000000000451217(OCoLC)70743994(CaPaEBR)ebrary10070329(SSID)ssj0000133777(PQKBManifestationID)11150212(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000133777(PQKBWorkID)10045680(PQKB)10608950(SSID)ssj0000551146(PQKBManifestationID)11379981(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000551146(PQKBWorkID)10526771(PQKB)11470429(MdBmJHUP)muse20148(Au-PeEL)EBL3318245(CaPaEBR)ebr10070329(OCoLC)923192207(MiAaPQ)EBC3318245(EXLCZ)99100000000045121720030102d2003 uy 0engurcn|||||||||txtccrThe culture of the Babylonian Talmud /Jeffrey L. Rubenstein reconstructs the cultural milieu of the rabbinic academy that produced the Babylonian Talmud, or Bavli, which quickly became the authoritative text of rabbinic Judaism and remains so to this day. Unlike the rabbis who had earlier produced the shorter Palestinian Talmud (the Yerushalmi) and who had passed on their teachings to students individually or in small and informal groups, the anonymous redactors of the Bavli were part of a large institution with a distinctive, isolated, and largely undocumented culture. The Culture of the Babylonian Talmud explores the cultural world of these Babylonian rabbis and their students through the prism of the stories they included in the Bavli, showing how their presentation of earlier rabbinic teachings was influenced by their own values and practices. Among the topics explored in this broad-ranging work are the hierarchical structure of the rabbinic academy, the use of dialectics in teaching, the functions of violence and shame within the academy, the role of lineage in rabbinic leadership, the marital and family lives of the rabbis, and the relationship between the rabbis and the rest of the Jewish population. This book provides a unique and new perspective on the formative years of rabbinic Judaism and will be essential reading for all students of the TalmudTalmudic academiesRabbisIraqBabyloniaIntellectual lifeAggadaCriticism, interpretation, etcLogicIraqBabyloniaNarration in rabbinical literatureTalmudic academies.RabbisIntellectual life.AggadaCriticism, interpretation, etc.LogicNarration in rabbinical literature.296.1/25067Rubenstein Jeffrey L911945MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910777586103321The culture of the Babylonian Talmud3843102UNINA03112nam 2200625Ia 450 991013266900332120200520144314.03-642-24415-710.1007/978-3-642-24415-5(CKB)3390000000021762(SSID)ssj0000609541(PQKBManifestationID)11406514(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000609541(PQKBWorkID)10619292(PQKB)10602481(DE-He213)978-3-642-24415-5(MiAaPQ)EBC3070597(PPN)159085055(EXLCZ)99339000000002176220111115d2012 uy 0engurnn|008mamaatxtccrThe Dirichlet problem for elliptic-hyperbolic equations of Keldysh type /Thomas H. Otway1st ed. 2012.Berlin ;Heidelberg ;New York Springer Verlag20121 online resource (IX, 214 p. 26 illus., 11 illus. in color.) Lecture notes in mathematics ;2043Bibliographic Level Mode of Issuance: Monograph3-642-24414-9 Includes bibliographical references and index.1 Introduction -- 2 Mathematical Preliminaries -- 3 The Equation of Cinquini-Cibrario -- 4 The Cold Plasma Model -- 5 Light near a Caustic -- 6 Projective Geometry.Partial differential equations of mixed elliptic-hyperbolic type arise in diverse areas of physics and geometry, including fluid and plasma dynamics, optics, cosmology, traffic engineering, projective geometry, geometric variational theory, and the theory of isometric embeddings. And yet even the linear theory of these equations is at a very early stage. This text examines various Dirichlet problems that can be formulated for Keldysh-type equations, one of the two main classes of linear elliptic-hyperbolic equations. Open boundary conditions (in which data are prescribed on only part of the boundary) and closed boundary conditions (in which data are prescribed on the entire boundary) are both considered. Emphasis is placed on the formulation of boundary conditions for which solutions can be shown to exist in an appropriate function space, and specific applications to plasma physics, optics, and analysis on projective spaces are discussed.Lecture notes in mathematics (Springer-Verlag) ;2043.Differential equations, EllipticDifferential equations, HyperbolicDirichlet problemDifferential equations, Elliptic.Differential equations, Hyperbolic.Dirichlet problem.515.3533MAT 354fstubMAT 355fstubMAT 357fstubSI 850rvkOtway Thomas H167751MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910132669003321Dirichlet problem for elliptic-hyperbolic equations of Keldysh type239895UNINA
