Although the question of prioritizing either the level of content or that of form has often provoked controversies, most contributions here treat them as internally connected. While theoretical considerations inform many of the readings, the main interest of most articles can be described as rhetorical (in the widest sense) - given that the ancient discipline of rhetoric did not only include the study of rhetorical figures and tropes such as metaphor, irony, or satire, but also that of topoi, which were originally viewed as the 'places' where certain arguments could be found, but later came to represent the arguments or intellectual themes themselves. Another feature shared by most of the articles is the tendency of 'undeclared thematology', which not only reflects the persistence of the charge of positivism, but also shows that most scholars prefer to locate themselves within more specific, often interdisciplinary fields of literary study. In this sense, this volume does not only prove the ongoing relevance of traditional fields such as rhetoric and thematology, but provides contributions to currently flourishing research areas, among them literary multilingualism, literature and emotions, and ecocriticism.LITERARY CRITICISM / Comparative LiteraturebisacshThematology.figurative language.literary form.rhetorical figures.LITERARY CRITICISM / Comparative Literature.Attikpoé Kodjoctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbBacskai-Atkari Juliactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbBeguš Ninactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbBethke Kathrinctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbBoysen Benjaminctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbBrantner Irinactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbD'Urso Andreactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbEl-Nowieemy Magdactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbFredsted Elinctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbGamble D.R.ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbGulddal Jesperctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbHambuch Dorisctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbHuss Markus1981-ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbIrimia Alexandractbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbJust Rainer1971-ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbNagao Christiane Kazuectbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbKnauth Alfons1941-ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbKoplowitz-Breier Anatctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbKutzenberger Stefanctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbLaakso Johannactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbLanius Karimactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbLeal Alicectbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbLeggieri Antonioctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbLeucht Robertctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbMalmio Kristinactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbPanteli Georgiactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbNogueira Luciana Persicectbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbSchröder Stephan Michaelctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbSmolej Tonectbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbSpitzmüller Jürgenctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbTimenova-Valtcheva Zlatkactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbTischmann Hannahctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbTolksdorf Ninactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbTrim Richardctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbVeverka Tanja1987-ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbWagner Philippctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbWagner Walterctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbWennerscheid Sophiectbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbWeretiuk Oksanactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbWischmann Antje1963-ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbWojno-Owczarska Ewactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbZocco Gianna1986-ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbZocco Gianna1986-edthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtDE-B1597DE-B1597BOOK9910774694803321XXI.
