In this passionate and authoritative new study, David Bethea illustrates the relation between the art and life of nineteenth-century poet Alexander Pushkin, the central figure in Russian thought and culture. Bethea shows how Pushkin, on the eve of his two-hundredth birthday, still speaks to our time. He indicates how we as modern readers might "realize"- that is, not only grasp cognitively, but feel, experience-the promethean metaphors central to the poet's intensely "sculpted" life. The Pushkin who emerges from Bethea's portrait is one who, long unknown to English-language readers, closely resembles the original both psychologically and artistically. Bethea begins by addressing the influential thinkers Freud, Bloom, Jakobson, and Lotman to show that their premises do not, by themselves, adequately account for Pushkin's psychology of creation or his version of the "life of the poet." He then proposes his own versatile model of reading, and goes on to sketches the tangled connections between Pushkin and his great compatriot, the eighteenth-century poet Gavrila Derzhavin. Pushkin simultaneously advanced toward and retreated from the shadow of his predecessor as he created notions of poet-in-history and inspiration new for his time and absolutely determinative for the tradition thereafter. The book also provides an assessment of the potential application of several existing wastewater bioremediation techniques and introduces new cutting-edge technologies. Among other valuable information covered, here are the methods, procedures, materials (especially low-cost materials originating from industrial and agricultural waste), management of wastewater containing toxic pollutants, and valorization possibilities of waste resulting from the removal of toxic pollutants from wastewater. Tonnes of hazardous waste pollutants released by industries are a challenge worldwide. With the ever-growing population and shrinking landfill areas, managing the disposal of pollutants is a matter of severe concern. Industrial wastewater treatment, recycling, and reuse are serious issues in today’s context, not just to protect the environment from pollution, but also to conserve water resources so that water stress is reduced. This book is designed for engineers, scientists, and other professionals and serves as a good summary of the current state-of-the-art and innovative research challenges to control pollution for coming generations.Refuse and refuse disposalWaterHydrologyIndustrial microbiologyNanotechnologyPollutionSustainabilityWaste Management/Waste TechnologyWaterIndustrial MicrobiologyNanotechnologyPollutionSustainabilityRefuse and refuse disposal.Water.Hydrology.Industrial microbiology.Nanotechnology.Pollution.Sustainability.Waste Management/Waste Technology.Water.Industrial Microbiology.Nanotechnology.Pollution.Sustainability.628.3Shah Maulin P1258338MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910734873003321Sustainable Industrial Wastewater Treatment and Pollution Control3404731UNINA
