It is a multifactorial heterogeneous disease characterized by the transformation of normal cells into malignant cells, which acquire an uncontrolled growth, immortality, invasiveness, and ability to form distant metastasis. Natural bioactive molecules may interfere with these processes and inhibit the carcinogenesis process. In this book, new molecules and extracts, mainly derived from plants, have been described as being able to alter tumor cell behavior and target several abnormal molecular pathways in cancer cells. Among different cancer cells, the more studied include those derived from glioblastoma, osteosarcoma, lung, breast and gastric cancer. These natural products could be an attractive source for the development of new preventative and therapeutic agents against cancer. They may be more selective and have weaker adverse effects compared to conventional chemotherapy drugs that are actually used for cancer treatment. Clinical trials are necessary to demonstrate whether the in vitro and in vivo animal data are reproduced in humans before the application of natural products in cancer prevention and treatment.Biology, life sciencesbicsscResearch & information: generalbicssc13-ethylberberineAktAKTanthraquinonesanti-canceranti-cancer activityanti-cancer agentsanti-tumor activityanticancerAntioxidant activitiesantioxidantsantioxidationantiproliferation agentsAntiproliferativeantiproliferative activityantitumoral activityantrodin CapoptosisARArtemisia absinthiumASEAspergillus fumigatusATM-Chk2autophagic flux inhibitionautophagybee venombetulinic acidBrazilian Cerrado biomecancercancer stem cellscapsazepinecarrageenanCatalpa speciosaCelastraceaecell cycle arrestcell proliferationcell signalingcephalotaxinecervical cancerCheiloclinium cognatumchemotherapeutic adjuvantchemotherapychiral resolutionCIP2ACLE-10CLEFMAColocasia esculentacolorectal cancer cellscopperCordyceps sinensiscoronarin DCrataBLcryptolepineCucurbitacin Bcytotoxic activitycytotoxicityDendrobium officinalediallyl disulfidedicentrineDLD-1 cellsdoxorubicindrug resistanceECD calculationEGFRendoplasmic reticulum stressentrapment efficiencyEuphorbia tirucalliFAK/S6K1flavonoidsfolk medicinefood bioactiveFOXO1fruitGanoderma tsugaegastric cancergastric cancer cellsgefitinib-resistant NSCLCGene expressionglioblastomaglioblastoma multiformegliomaglucose uptakeglycosyltransferasegrape leaveshuman neuroblastoma cellsIL-6/JAK2/STAT3inflammationinflammatory diseasesingenolinvasionisochromanesisocryptolepineJNKlactoferrin hydrolysateLC3lichenLicochalcone Alipogenesislung adenocarcinomalysosomal degradationlysosomal membrane permeabilizationMagnolia acuminatamanganeseMAPKMCF-7 cellsMDA-MB-231melanomamelittinmesenchymal stem cellsmetabolic stabilitymetastasismicroenvironmentmigrationmitochondrial membrane potentialmitochondrial ROSmitochondrial-dependent pathwaymolecular mechanismmTORmultiple myeloman/anaringeninnatural compoundsnatural product alkaloidsnatural productsnatural yellow Monascus pigmentsNCI-60 cancer cell linenecroticneferineneocryptolepineNF-κBno-toxicityNutraceuticalsoncogeneosteosarcomap38patuletinphenolsphloretinphytochemicalsPI3K/AKT/mTORPI3K/Akt/mTOR pathwayplant lectinplant-derived foodsplantation modePlenckia populneaporphyranpreclinical testspristimerinpro-apoptotic effectsproanthocyaninsprostate cancerprotease inhibitorprotein kinase Cprotein synthesis inhibitionPulsatilla saponin Dquality controlquercetagetinquercetinROSRT-R breast cancer cellsSalacia crassifoliaSalacia ellipticaSB365seaweedsecondary metabolitessemi-synthetic derivativeSREBP-1stable nanocapsulesstemness potentialstructure activity relationshipsstructure elucidationtarinTaxus cuspidatatemozolomideTNF-αTPtraditional preparationtranscriptional regulationtriterpenoidsTRPV1tumidulinursolic acidvegetablewater-solublezerumboneZeylenoneBiology, life sciencesResearch & information: generalFabiani Robertoedt1314851Fabiani RobertoothBOOK9910557419703321Antitumoral Properties of Natural Products3032047UNINA
