Series 2, Data evaluation and methods research ;no. 101DHHS publication ;no. (PHS) 87-1375"Research was undertaken to evaluate alternative methods of selecting a sample of eligible respondents for the National Medical Expenditure Survey (NMES) from the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). This report presents estimates of the effects of alternative design options, obtained by statistical modeling techniques, for linking the NMES with the NHIS. The estimated survey costs for alternative linked and unlinked design options are compared for fixed precision. The findings indicate that substantial savings would be realized by linking the NMES to the NHIS if a premium is put on small-domain estimates.""March 1987."Includes bibliographical references (page 52).Medical care, Cost ofUnited StatesStatistical methodsMedical careUtilizationUnited StatesStatistical methodsHealth surveysUnited StatesStatisticsHealth surveysfastMedical care, Cost ofStatistical methodsfastMedical careUtilizationStatistical methodsfastUnited StatesfastStatistics.fastStatistics.lcgftMedical care, Cost ofStatistical methods.Medical careUtilizationStatistical methods.Health surveysHealth surveys.Medical care, Cost ofStatistical methods.Medical careUtilizationStatistical methods.Cox Brenda G.941976Folsom Ralph E.Virag Thomas G.National Center for Health Statistics (U.S.),SXTSXTOCLCOOCLCFOCLCQOCLCOOCLCAGPOBOOK9910713399303321Design alternatives for integrating the National Medical Expenditure Survey with the National Health Interview Survey3468610UNINA
