Waiting for the Barbarians: The Fall of Greek Bactria --Conclusion --Appendix: Greek Documents --Bibliography --IndexIn the aftermath of Alexander the Great's conquests in the late fourth century B.C., Greek garrisons and settlements were established across Central Asia, through Bactria (modern-day Afghanistan) and into India. Over the next three hundred years, these settlements evolved into multiethnic, multilingual communities as much Greek as they were indigenous. To explore the lives and identities of the inhabitants of the Graeco-Bactrian and Indo-Greek kingdoms, Rachel Mairs marshals a variety of evidence, from archaeology, to coins, to documentary and historical texts. Looking particularly at the great city of Ai Khanoum, the only extensively excavated Hellenistic period urban site in Central Asia, Mairs explores how these ancient people lived, communicated, and understood themselves. Significant and original, The Hellenistic Far East will highlight Bactrian studies as an important part of our understanding of the ancient world.GreeksAsia, CentralAntiquitiesExcavations (Archaeology)Asia, CentralAsia, CentralAntiquitiesAy Khānom (Afghanistan)AntiquitiesBactriaAntiquitiesai khanoum.alexander the great.alexandria on the oxus.ancient history.ancient people.ancient world.antiquity.archaeology.bactria.central asia.coins.conquests of alexander the great.eucratidia.extensively excavated.graeco bactrian kingdoms.greece.greek empire.greek garrison.hellenistic period.india.indigenous peoples.indo greek kingdoms.late fourth century.modern day afghanistan.multi ethnic.multi lingual.urban site.GreeksAntiquities.Excavations (Archaeology)958/.01HIS002000bisacshMairs Rachel611680MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910809522503321The Hellenistic Far East4121165UNINA01994nam 2200445z- 450 9910688558703321202102111000041878(CKB)4920000000102006(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/49891(oapen)doab49891(EXLCZ)99492000000010200620202102d2013 |y 0engurmn|---annantxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierImage Analysis and Evaluation of Cylinder Bore Surfaces in MicrographsKIT Scientific Publishing20131 online resource (II, 115 p. p.)Forschungsberichte aus der Industriellen Informationstechnik / Institut für Industrielle Informationstechnik (IIIT), Karlsruher Institut für Technologie3-7315-0239-9 This work presents two image-based inspection approaches for the quality evaluation of cylinder bore surfaces. In the first algorithm, metal folds on plateau-honed surfaces are inspected with scanning electron microscopy. An edge-aware structure tensor is proposed for feature extraction and localization of surface defects. The second algorithm uses a morphgraphical method for detecting graphite grains in optical micrographs. Based on the inspection results, quality parameters are proposed.Technology: general issuesbicsscautomated vision inspectionAutomatische SichtprüfungBildverarbeitungedge detectionHonungimage processingKantendetektionmicrographMikrographhoningTechnology: general issuesWang Limengauth1353082BOOK9910688558703321Image Analysis and Evaluation of Cylinder Bore Surfaces in Micrographs3220218UNINA
