It is recommended reading for anyone undertaking systematic reviews or needing to understand the principles and methodology used in research papers. It goes beyond explanation, to provide debate on key issues in systematic reviewing. Written by leading, internationally respected researchers, this is a reference for the informed reviewer but also a valuable resource for those coming to the field for the first time. It is both comprehensive and stimulating -- a classic text in its own right"--Provided by publisher."In this Third Edition of the classic Systematic Reviews textbook, now titled Systematic Reviews in Health Research, a team of distinguished researchers deliver a comprehensive and authoritative guide to the rapidly evolving area of systematic reviews and meta-analysis. The book demonstrates why systematic reviews—when conducted properly—provide the highest quality evidence on clinical and public health interventions and shows how they contribute to inference in many other contexts. The new edition reflects the broad role of systematic reviews, including: Twelve new chapters, covering additional study designs, methods and software, for example, on genetic association studies, prediction models, prevalence studies, network and dose-response meta-analysis; Thorough update of 15 chapters focusing on systematic reviews of interventions; Access to a companion website offering supplementary materials and practical exercises (www.systematic-reviews3.org). A key text for health researchers, Systematic Reviews in Health Research is also an indispensable resource for practitioners, students, and instructors in the health sciences needing to understand research synthesis."--Provided by publisher.Evidence-based medicineSystematic reviews (Medical research)Systematic Reviews as TopicMeta-Analysis as TopicResearch DesignEvidence-Based MedicineControlled Clinical Trials as TopicEvidence-based medicine.Systematic reviews (Medical research)Systematic Reviews as TopicMeta-Analysis as TopicResearch DesignEvidence-Based MedicineControlled Clinical Trials as Topic610/.7/2Egger MatthiasDavey Smith GeorgeAltman Douglas G.DNLM/DLCDLCDLCCaOWtUBOOK9910677002303321Systematic reviews in health research3066812UNINA02628oam 22004454a 450 991077616240332120240805131337.097894616653559461665350(CKB)5840000000424853(OCoLC)1419963441(MdBmJHUP)musev2_112626(ScCtBLL)5f6600ec-ffc1-41a2-b790-2331b1e24800(EXLCZ)99584000000042485320240206d2024 uy 0engur|||||||nn|ntxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierAn Opaque Mirror for Trajan : A Literary Analysis and Interpretation of Plutarch's 'Regum et imperatorum apophthegmata'[S.l.] :LEUVEN UNIVERSITY PRESS,2024.©2024.1 online resource9789462703902 9462703906 "Plutarch's Regum et imperatorum apophthegmata (Sayings of Kings and Commanders) holds a peculiar position in his oeuvre. This collection of almost 500 anecdotes of barbarian, Greek, and Roman rulers and generals is introduced by a dedicatory letter to Trajan as a summary of the author's well-known and widely read Parallel Lives. The work is therefore Plutarch's only text that explicitly addresses a Roman emperor and is likely to shed light on his biographical technique. Yet the collection has been understudied, because its authenticity has been generally rejected since the nineteenth century. Recent scholarship defends Plutarch's authorship of the text, but some remain sceptical. This book restores its reputation and provides a first full literary analysis of the letter and collection as a genuine work of Plutarch, wherein he attempts to educate his ruler by means of great role models of the past. Plutarch's thinking about the function of role models (exempla) is not only relevant for Plutarchan research, but also for our knowledge of exemplarity, a key feature both in Greek and Latin literature in the early imperial period in general. Therefore An Opaque Mirror for Trajan is also of interest for literary and historical scholars who study the broader context of ancient literature of the first centuries CE."--Page 4 of cover.PhilosophybisacshPhilosophyElectronic books.
