Clinical presentation ranges from mild to life-threatening symptoms. Component-resolved diagnosis with recombinant allergens has improved the diagnosis and, consequently, clinical management. Currently, there is no specific treatment for food allergy, so the only available management is limited to strict dietary avoidance, education on prompt recognition of symptoms, and emergency treatment of adverse reaction. In parallel, novel knowledge on the pathogenesis of food allergy is opening the way to new trials investigating several allergen-specific and allergen non-specific therapies, aiming to prevent the development of food allergy and acquire a persistent food tolerance.Research & information: generalbicsscBiology, life sciencesbicsscFood & societybicsscchildrenadolescentseosinophilic esophagitiseosinophilic gastrointestinal disordersgrowthfailure to thrivemalnutritionundernutritionobesityvitaminnon-IgE gastrointestinal food allergyfecal biomarkersIgG and IgG4allergen-specific lymphocyte stimulation testoral food challengeatopy patch testclinical scoreendoscopyrefluxGERGERDcow’s milk allergyCMAinfantshydrolyzed formulaalginatethickened formulacross-reactionflourfood allergyindividualized diagnosticslegumeslupinelipid transfer proteinpeanutprofilinhazelnuthypersensitivitycomponent-resolved diagnosticsCor a 1Cor a 14Cor a 9IgEallergyenvironmental factorsprimary preventionfunctional abdominal pain disordersfunctional dyspepsiairritable bowel syndromeallergensensitizationGly m 4Caco-2/Immune cells co-culturecytokinensLTPplant-food allergyPru p 3peachnutRosaceae fruitISACmonoclonal antibodiesbiologicsadultsalmondalmond allergensnutritionResearch & information: generalBiology, life sciencesFood & societyManti Saraedt1323095Marseglia Gian LuigiedtLeonardi SalvatoreedtManti SaraothMarseglia Gian LuigiothLeonardi SalvatoreothBOOK9910619468103321Food Allergies in Modern Life3035377UNINA
