This study shifts the focus from the author's persona to her literary art, proposing to read Oksanen's fiction from the methodological viewpoint of the rhetorical theory of narrative. Accordingly, Oksanen's six novels published to date - Stalinin lehmät, Baby Jane, Puhdistus, Kun kyyhkyset katosivat, Norma, and Koirapuisto - are considered as examples of authorial rhetoric and ethics, as narrative and textual constructions, and as affective readerly experiences. Instead of only following the rhetorical theory's emphasis on character, plot, and progression, however, the study develops a new kind of narrative rhetoric, which also pays attention to language and politics. In the study, Sofi Oksanen emerges as a feminist narrative artist, who employs fiction as a serious rhetorical resource in order to say something worthwhile about the past history as well as the contemporary world.Sofi Oksasen romaanitaideFinnish languageCaseFinnish languageCase.494.5415Lehtimäki Markku1149425NjHacINjHaclBOOK9910586565403321Sofi Oksasen romaanitaide3084947UNINA04284nam 22005415 450 991049525140332120251113185701.03-030-70320-710.1007/978-3-030-70320-2(CKB)4100000011982955(MiAaPQ)EBC6679303(Au-PeEL)EBL6679303(DE-He213)978-3-030-70320-2(EXLCZ)99410000001198295520210716d2021 u| 0engurcz#---auuuutxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierThe Social Outburst and Political Representation in Chile /edited by Bernardo Navarrete, Victor Tricot1st ed. 2021.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2021.1 online resource (207 pages) illustrations (some color)Latin American Societies, Current Challenges in Social Sciences,2730-55463-030-70319-3 Includes index.1.Introduction: Social outbreak and political representation in Latin America -- 2.Party system crisis: The exhaustion of Chile's spine -- 3.Opportunities and constraints of a stagnate system. For almost 30 years (1990-2019), Chile was recognized as a model of political and economic stability in Latin America, but the 2019 protests put into question the whole structure of representation based on programmatic political parties. This contributed volume analyzes the causes of the social outbreak by examining the interaction between political parties and social movements in Chile since 2000, establishing bridges between the sociology of social movements and the political science of parties and forms of traditional political representation. The book is organized in three parts. The first part analyzes the collapse of the political party system in Chile. The second part shows how social movements introduced innovative forms of political mobilization that challenged the traditional forms of political representation. Finally, the third part presents case studies focusing on specific social movements and their contributions to the renewal of political representation in Chile. The Social Outburst and Political Representation in Chile will be a valuable resource for sociologists, political scientists and other social scientists interested in understanding the challenges posed to political parties and institutions by social movements formed by citizens who no longer see themselves represented by the traditional forms political participation.Latin American Societies, Current Challenges in Social Sciences,2730-5546Political sociologyPolitical sciencePolitical SociologyPolitical SciencePolitical sociology.Political science.Political Sociology.Political Science.323.0420983Navarrete Yáñez BernardoTricot VictorMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910495251403321The Social Outburst and Political Representation in Chile2273637UNINA
