Du Bois, and A. Phillip Randolph. Yergan rose through the ranks of the "colored" work department of the YMCA, and was among the first black YMCA missionaries in South Africa. His exposure to the brutality of colonial white rule in South Africa caused him to veer away from mainstream, liberal civil rights organizations, and, by the mid-1930s, into the orbit of the Communist Party. A mere decade later, Cold War hysteria and intimidation pushed Yergan away from progressive politics and increasingly toward conservatism. In his later years he even became an apologist for apartheid.Drawing on personal interviews and extensive archival research, David H. Anthony has written much more than a biography of this enigmatic leader. In following the winding road of Yergan’s life, Anthony offers a tour through the complex and interrelated political and institutional movements that have shaped the history of the black world from the United States to South Africa.African AmericansBiographyAfrican American political activistsBiographyAfrican American intellectualsBiographyAfrican AmericansPolitics and government20th centuryElectronic books.African AmericansAfrican American political activistsAfrican American intellectualsAfrican AmericansPolitics and government323/.092BAnthony David Henry1952-1051855MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910452056403321Max Yergan2482661UNINA04677nam 2201225z- 450 991056648130332120220506(CKB)5680000000037567(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/81124(oapen)doab81124(oapen)81124(EXLCZ)99568000000003756720202205d2022 |y 0engurmn|---annantxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierAdvanced Control and Estimation Concepts, and New Hardware Topologies for Future MobilityBaselMDPI - Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute20221 online resource (236 p.)3-0365-3473-3 3-0365-3474-1 According to the National Research Council, the use of embedded systems throughout society could well overtake previous milestones in the information revolution. Mechatronics is the synergistic combination of electronic, mechanical engineering, controls, software and systems engineering in the design of processes and products. Mechatronic systems put "intelligence" into physical systems. Embedded sensors/actuators/processors are integral parts of mechatronic systems. The implementation of mechatronic systems is consistently on the rise. However, manufacturers are working hard to reduce the implementation cost of these systems while trying avoid compromising product quality. One way of addressing these conflicting objectives is through new automatic control methods, virtual sensing/estimation, and new innovative hardware topologies.History of engineering & technologybicsscTechnology: general issuesbicsscHistory of engineering and technologybicssc4WD electric vehicleactive disturbance rejection controlactuatoradaptive cruise controlair mobilityanalysisapplication of speed predictionautomated drivingbattery agingbond graphbrake-by-wirecharging managementcity bus transportcontrolcontrol designcontroller output observerdecentralized traction systemdeep learningdrift counteraction optimal controldriving force distributionefficiency optimizationEHBelectric vehicleelectric vehicleselectrificationelectro-hydraulic brakeelectro-mechanical brakeelectronic wedge brakeEMBenergy efficiencyenergy managementenergy-savingequivalent consumption minimizationEWBfuel cell hybrid aircraftfuel-savinghardware-in-the-loop experimentshybrid electric vehiclehybrid vehicleindependent-wheel drivelithium ionmacroscopic traffic modeln/anew energy vehiclesnonlinear optimizationnonlinear systemnormal force estimationoptimal controloptimizationpassenger comfortplanningpowertrain electrificationrobust controlsimulationsmooth road feelingsoftware toolspeed predictionsteering assistancestochastic optimal controlsuperchargingsystem modelingtraction controltraffic big-dataultracapacitorunbiased minimum variance estimationunresolved issuesvehicle lateral dynamic and controlyoula parameterizationYoula parameterizationHistory of engineering & technologyTechnology: general issuesHistory of engineering and technologyAssadian Francis Fedt1326304Assadian Francis FothBOOK9910566481303321Advanced Control and Estimation Concepts, and New Hardware Topologies for Future Mobility3037286UNINA
