The molecule of flavonoids is characterized by a 15-carbon skeleton of C6–C3–C6, with the different structural configuration of subclasses. The major subclasses of flavonoids with health-promotional properties are the flavanols or catechins (e.g., epigallocatechin 3-gallate from green tea), the flavones (e.g., apigenin from celery), the flavonols (e.g., quercetin glycosides from apples, berries, and onion), the flavanones (e.g., naringenin from citrus), the anthocyanins (e.g., cyanidin-3-O-glucoside from berries), and the isoflavones (e.g., genistein from soya beans). Scientific evidence has strongly shown that regular intake of dietary flavonoids in efficacious amounts reduces the risk of oxidative stress- and chronic inflammation-mediated pathogenesis of human diseases such as cardiovascular disease, certain cancers, and neurological disorders. The physiological benefits of dietary flavonoids have been demonstrated to be due to multiple mechanisms of action, including regulating redox homeostasis, epigenetic regulations, activation of survival genes and signaling pathways, regulation of mitochondrial function and bioenergetics, and modulation of inflammation response. The role of flavonoids on gut microbiota and the impact of microbial metabolites of flavonoids on optimal health has begun to unravel. The complex physiological modulations of flavonoid molecules are due to their structural diversity. However, some flavonoids are not absorbed well, and their bioavailability could be enhanced through structural modifications and applications of nanotechnology, such as encapsulation. This Special Issue consists of four review articles on flavonoids and 15 original research articles, which cover the latest findings on the role of dietary flavonoids and their derivatives in disease prevention and treatment.HumanitiesbicsscSocial interactionbicsscluteolinapigeninbacoside Abacopaside Ivasorelaxationisorhamnetinflavonoidbacterial sepsistoll-like receptor 4inflammationcitrus flavonoidsneohesperidinanti-aging activitychronological lifespansynergistic effectclinical trialsnatural productshyperalgesiaallodyniaanalgesiahypersensitivitycytokinesNF-kBdefatted pitaya seedextractionphenolic contentflavonoid contentantioxidant activityresponse surface methodologyflavonoidsaglyconsglycosidesIL-1βTNF-αIL-6IL-8pro-inflammatory cytokinesAcer okamotoanumafzelinisoquercitrinobesityquercitrinaspirincancer preventionhydroxybenzoic acidscell cycleCDKscolorectal cancerinfectious diseasesamoebiasisMexican oreganobioguided isolationantiprotozoal agentsflavonescancermicrobiomemolecular mechanismsgene and protein regulatory networksmacrophagesNF-κBIKKβ, inflammatory cytokinesapoptosisfoods for healthtangeretincancer stem cellsStat3citrusCD44+/CD24−phytochemicalsflavonoids and their derivativesphytomedicineCOVID-19SARS-COV-2smart nanoparticlesnon-flavonoidsmembrane PUFAs profilecell morphologyhuman colon cancer cellscranberryurinary tract infectionsUTIsuropathogenic Escherichia coliUPECflavan-3-olsA-type proanthocyanidinsphenolic metabolitesantiadhesive activityprobioticsanthocyanintobacco-specific nitrosaminecarcinogenesiscell proliferationcancer chemopreventionlung cancerchalconesDNA damageanticancer activitycanine cancer cell linesangiogenesisin-vivo angiogenesisCAM assaySARcognitionpassive avoidance testmemory extinctionmicemicroglianeuroprotectionblack rice cyanidin-3-O-glucosidewood sterolsdyslipidemiaCVDHumanitiesSocial interactionRupasinghe H.P. The general impression one derives from the analysis of many plays by Shakespeare is that of a legal situation in transformation and of a dynamically changing relation between law and society, law and the jurisdiction of Renaissance times. Shakespeare provides the kind of literary supplement that can better illustrate the legal texts of the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. There was a strong popular participation in the system of justice, and late sixteenth-century playwrights often made use of forensic models of narrative. Uncertainty about legal issues represented a rich potential for causing strong reactions in the public, especially feelings concerning the resistance to tyranny. The volume aims at highlighting some of the many legal perspectives and debates emplotted in Shakespearean plays, also taking into consideration the many texts that have been produced during the latest years on law and literature in the Renaissance.Law & literature (De Gruyter) ;Volume 15.2191-8457Law in literatureLaw in literature.822.3/3Carpi DanielaOst FrançoisKnowledge Unlatchedfndhttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/fndDE-B1597DE-B1597BOOK9910504286503321As You Law It - Negotiating Shakespeare1896535UNINA
