Reflecting current debates in the intersecting fields of African American Studies and African Diaspora, these critical essays and case studies explore the articulation between the fluctuating concepts of ‘race’ and Diaspora and the negotiations of identities across differences. They examine in turn the developments of diasporic black (inter)nationalism, new discourses on ‘postraciality’ and ‘postblackness’, race consciousness among African American soldiers, expatriation and re-diasporization. The acknowledgement of a rejection of Africanness in societies such as the Emirates, Morocco or the Dominican Republic dialogues with examinations of artwork through the lenses of a diasporic consciousness and analyses of literary texts that celebrate internationalism or subvert the notion of ‘race’. James Baldwin thus converses with Percival Everett.Social Issuesraceétudes afro-américainesdiaspora noireafrique noirepost-racialitépostblacknessidentité afro-américaineidentité noireexpatriationafro-américaineinternationalisme noirAfrican-American studiesBlack diasporaBlack Africapost-racialitypost-blacknessAfrican-American identityBlack identityAfrican-AmericanBlack internationalismraceAfrican-American studiesBlack diasporaBlack Africapost-racialitypost-blacknessAfrican-American identityBlack identityexpatriationAfrican-AmericanBlack internationalismSocial Issuesraceétudes afro-américainesdiaspora noireafrique noirepost-racialitépostblacknessidentité afro-américaineidentité noireexpatriationafro-américaineinternationalisme noirAfrican-American studiesBlack diasporaBlack Africapost-racialitypost-blacknessAfrican-American identityBlack identityAfrican-AmericanBlack internationalismA. Reid Mark1323295Duboin Corinne1310216Gomez Michael A1323296Gras Delphine1323297H. A. Rushdy Ashraf1323298Joyce Boyd Melba1323299M. Wilks Jennifer1323300Miller D. Quentin1323301Morehouse Maggi1310395Parent Anthony1323302Pereira Malin944326Pierre Alix1323303Raynaud Claudine1285411Rice Alan1312452Smyth Heather1323304Veroni-Paccher Lisa1323305Vogt-William Christine1143984Duboin Corinne1310216Raynaud Claudine1285411FR-FrMaCLEBOOK9910503508603321Diasporas, Cultures of Mobilities, ‘Race’ 33035458UNINA04609nam 2201177z- 450 991055737060332120220111(CKB)5400000000042185(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/77021(oapen)doab77021(EXLCZ)99540000000004218520202201d2021 |y 0engurmn|---annantxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierA History of Burn CareBasel, SwitzerlandMDPI - Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute20211 online resource (206 p.)3-0365-1525-9 3-0365-1526-7 Burn injuries are still one of the most common and devastating injuries in human and the treatment of major burns remains a major challenge for physicians worldwide. Modern burn care involves many components from initial first aid, burn size and burn depth assessment, fluid resuscitation, wound care, excision and grafting/ coverage, infection control and nutritional support. Progress in each of these areas has contributed significantly to the overall enhanced survival of burn victims of the past decades. Most major advances in burn care occurred in the past 50 years, spurred on by wars and great fires. The use of systemic antibiotics and topical antiinfective agents greatly reduced sepsis related mortality. This along with the improvement of new surgical and skin grafting techniques allowed the earlier excision and coverage of deep burns which resulted in greatly improved survival rates and better functional and aesthetic outcome. In this book we look back at how the treatment of burns has evolved over the past decades and hundreds of years. The advancement of burn care has been closely associated with our deeper understanding of its pathophysiology; we have now come to understand the impact that burn injuries have in the multiple fields of current medical science i.e. in metabolism and circulation, electrolyte balance and nutrition, immunology and infection, inflammation, pulmonary function and wound healing.Public health and preventive medicinebicsscallotransplantationanalgesiaancient medicineantiquityautograftbromelainburnburn advancementburn careburn historyburn injuryburn researchburn resuscitationburn size assessmentburn therapyburnscarbon monoxidecareCEACO intoxicationCOHbconsequences of inaccurate assessmentCSSdermatomedonor areadressing changesenzymatic debridementepidermal skin substituteestimation accuracyfluid managementgraftinghealing timehistoryhyperbaric oxygenationimmuno-compatible skin graftsinfection rateinhalation injurylactormonemedical documentationmeshn/aNexoBrid™oxidative stress reductionpartial thickness burnsphytotherapypolylactideporcine xenograftReCellreduced infectionresorbableresuscitation volumereviewskin graftskin graftingskin substituteskin substitutesskin transplantationsplit-thicknessSpray-on-Skinstabilizationsuprathelsyntheticthree-dimensionaltranspulmonary thermodilutionultrasoundworkloadwoundsxenograftPublic health and preventive medicineKamolz Lars Pedt1307051Hartmann BerndedtKamolz Lars PothHartmann BerndothBOOK9910557370603321A History of Burn Care3028658UNINA
