It examines a range of different nonfiction forms – including the personal essay and memoir – and ethical questions that arise in relation to them, such as truth claims, the confessional mode, counter-narratives. Drawing on the ideas of Bakhtin, Nietzsche and Foucault; examples from creative non-fiction writers such as Strayed and Knausgaard; and the founding principles of the originators of the genre, Seneca, Augustine and Montaigne, Jensen argues that a limited conception of nonfiction leads to a limited view of its ethics. Writing about the truth in an authentic way is more important than ever before – and essential to this is the creation of the ethical subject. George H. Jensen is Professor Emeritus with the Department of Rhetoric and Writing at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, USA. His recent books include Some of the Words Are Theirs: A Memoir of an Alcoholic Family (2000), Storytelling in Alcoholics Anonymous: A Rhetorical Analysis (2000), and Identities Across Texts (2002).Creative nonfictionCreative writingLanguage and languagesStyleRhetoricLiteraturePhilosophyPoststructuralismNon-Fiction LiteratureCreative WritingRhetoricsLiterary TheoryPoststructuralismCreative nonfiction.Creative writing.Language and languagesStyle.Rhetoric.LiteraturePhilosophy.Poststructuralism.Non-Fiction Literature.Creative Writing.Rhetorics.Literary Theory.Poststructuralism.808.02Jensen George H.0MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910760275103321UNINA05556nam 22008175 450 991055687980332120251111130008.09783030923532303092353310.1007/978-3-030-92353-2(MiAaPQ)EBC6940032(Au-PeEL)EBL6940032(CKB)21425630800041(DE-He213)978-3-030-92353-2(EXLCZ)992142563080004120220325d2022 u| 0engurcnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierNeoliberalization of English Language Policy in the Global South /edited by Ali Jalalian Daghigh, Jariah Mohd Jan, Sheena Kaur1st ed. 2022.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2022.1 online resource (225 pages)Language Policy,2452-1027 ;29Print version: Jalalian Daghigh, Ali Neoliberalization of English Language Policy in the Global South Cham : Springer International Publishing AG,c2022 9783030923525 Includes bibliographical references and index.1. Through the three main sub themes covered by the book, namely Neoliberalism and English Language Teaching Policies, Neoliberalism Ideology as in English Language Teaching Materials, and Experiences of Neoliberal Subjects, it investigates various aspects and means through which neoliberalism is realized in a variety of contexts. Through the first subtheme the volume covers the English language education policies of Chile, Bangladesh, India, and Morocco. The second sub theme concerns how different neoliberal values such as consumerism, entrepreneurship, and individualism are localized and constructed in the locally developed English language materials of Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The third sub theme includes studies on the impact of neoliberalization of English in relation to Colombian, Brazilian, and Pakistani stakeholders. This book is a valuable resource for academics, postgraduate students, researchers, policy makers, educators, and practitioners who are interested in neoliberalism in English language.Language Policy,2452-1027 ;29Education and stateLanguage policyEducational sociologyLanguage and languagesStudy and teachingEducational Policy and PoliticsLanguage Policy and PlanningSociology of EducationLanguage Teaching and LearningPolítica lingüísticathubEnsenyament de llengües estrangeresthubAnglèsthubPolítica educativathubNeoliberalismethubPaïsos en vies de desenvolupamentthubLlibres electrònicsthubEducation and state.Language policy.Educational sociology.Language and languagesStudy and teaching.Educational Policy and Politics.Language Policy and Planning.Sociology of Education.Language Teaching and Learning.Política lingüísticaEnsenyament de llengües estrangeresAnglèsPolítica educativaNeoliberalisme306.449091724306.449091724Jalalian Daghigh AliJariah Mohd.
