Altered sexual developments involve widely characterized functional and anatomical changes in meiosis, gametogenesis, and embryo and endosperm formation. The ovules of apomictic plants skip meiosis and form unreduced female gametophytes whose egg cells develop into a parthenogenetic embryo, and the central cells may or may not fuse to a sperm to develop the seed endosperm. Thus, functional apomixis involves at least three components, apomeiosis, parthenogenesis, and endosperm development, modified from sexual reproduction that must be coordinated at the molecular level to progress through the developmental steps and form a clonal seed. Despite recent progress uncovering specific genes related to apomixis-like phenotypes and the formation of clonal seeds, the molecular basis and regulatorynetwork of apomixis is still unknown. This is a central problem underlying the current limitations of apomixis breeding. This book collates twelve publications addressing different topics around the molecular basis of apomixis, illustrating recent discoveries and advances toward understanding the genetic regulation of the trait, discussing the possible origins of apomixis and the remaining challenges for its commercial deployment in plants.Research & information: generalbicsscapomixisevolutiongermlinegene regulationsporogenesisplant reproductionribosomeRNA helicasesexual developmentstress responseapomeiosisclonal seedsendospermheterosis capturemolecular breedingparthenogenesisdifferentially expressed geneshybridizationmicroarrayspolyploidyRanunculussexualitycharacter segregationcrop biotechnologyheterosismeiosisrecombinationagamospermybasal angiosperms (ANA-grade)sporocytelesspolycomb-group proteinsreproductive systemsapomixis evolutionAPOSTARTPoa pratensisdiplosporyautonomous endospermgeneticsTaraxacumdandelionweeping lovegrassdrought stressRNA-seqplant breedingplant developmentHieracium piloselloidesCRISPR/Cas9PHYTOENE DESATURASE (PDS)amplicon sequencinggenome editingtissue culturehaploid progenydicotyledonPsASGR-BBMLpseudogamy5-azacytidineabscisic acidaposporyexpression profilingfluridonemetabolic homeostasisoxidative stresssucrose non-fermenting-related protein kinaseResearch & information: generalHojsgaard Diegoedt1288744Hojsgaard DiegoothBOOK9910557371403321Molecular Basis of Apomixis in Plants3020971UNINA04046nam 22008053 450 991052379970332120240223110206.03-030-84514-1(CKB)5100000000192253(MiAaPQ)EBC6852152(Au-PeEL)EBL6852152(OCoLC)1293986864(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/78247(PPN)260833320(EXLCZ)99510000000019225320220207d2022 uy 0engurcnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierAnthropologies of Global Maternal and Reproductive Health From Policy Spaces to Sites of PracticeChamSpringer Nature2022Cham :Springer International Publishing AG,2022.©2022.1 online resource (227 pages)Global Maternal and Child Health3-030-84513-3 This open access edited book brings together new research on the mechanisms by which maternal and reproductive health policies are formed and implemented in diverse locales around the world, from global policy spaces to sites of practice. The authors – both internationally respected anthropologists and new voices – demonstrate the value of ethnography and the utility of reproduction as a lens through which to generate rich insights into professionals’ and lay people’s intimate encounters with policy. Authors look closely at core policy debates in the history of global maternal health across six different continents, including: Women’s use of misoprostol for abortion in Burkina Faso The place of traditional birth attendants in global maternal health Donor-driven maternal health programs in Tanzania Efforts to integrate qualitative evidence in WHO maternal and child health policy-making Anthropologies of Global Maternal and Reproductive Health will engage readers interested in critical conversations about global health policy today. The broad range of foci makes it a valuable resource for teaching in medical anthropology, anthropology of reproduction, and interdisciplinary global health programs. The book will also find readership amongst critical public health scholars, health policy and systems researchers, and global public health practitioners.Global Maternal and Child HealthMedical anthropologybicsscMaterno-fetal medicinebicsscHealth systems & servicesbicsscReproductive medicinebicsscPolítica sanitàriathubServeis de salut maternalthubLlibres electrònicsthubopen accessanthropology of maternal deathanthropology of pregnancyanthropology of reproductionethnography maternal healthethnograpny reproductive healthethnography global healthglobal health policymaternal health policymaternal morbidity and mortalitymedical anthropologyglobal reproductive health policyskilled birthwomen's healthglobal maternal healthglobal health care interventionsMaternal and Child HealthMedical anthropologyMaterno-fetal medicineHealth systems & servicesReproductive medicinePolítica sanitàriaServeis de salut maternalWallace Lauren J1078937MacDonald Margaret E82783Storeng Katerini T1078938MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910523799703321Anthropologies of Global Maternal and Reproductive Health2591336UNINA
