What unites all the primary authors in this volume is a commitment to challenging the tenets of British mimetic realism as a literary and historical phenomenon. This collection reassesses how British female novelists operated in relation to transnational vanguard networking clusters, debates and tendencies, both political and artistic. The chapters collected in this volume enquire, for example, whether there is something fundamentally different (or politically dissident) about female experimental procedures and perspectives. This book also investigates the processes of canon formation, asking why, in one way or another, these authors have been sidelined or misconstrued by recent scholarship. Ultimately, it seeks to refine a new research archive on mid-century British fiction by female novelists at least as diverse as recent and longer established work in the domain of modernist studies. Andrew Radford is Senior Lecturer in modernist and contemporary Anglo-American Literature at the University of Glasgow, UK. He has published The Occult Imagination in Britain 1875-1947 (2018) and has co-edited two previous collections of essays: Franco-British Cultural Exchanges, 1880-1940: Channel Packets (2012), and Modernist Women Writers and Spirituality: A Piercing Darkness (2017). Hannah Van Hove is a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Research Foundation Flanders at the Free University in Brussels, Belgium, where she is conducting a research project on British post-war experimental women's writing. She completed her PhD on the fiction of Anna Kavan, Alexander Trocchi and Ann Quin at the University of Glasgow, UK, in 2017. She is Chair of the Anna Kavan Society and sitson the editorial board of the Journal for Literary and Intermedial Crossings.Literature, Modern20th centuryFictionTwentieth-Century LiteratureFiction LiteratureLiterature, ModernFiction.Twentieth-Century Literature.Fiction Literature.820.99287820.992870945Radford Andrew1972-Hove Hannah vanMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910495233303321British experimental women's fiction, 1945-19752572032UNINA04726nam 2201321Ia 450 991097368020332120251107091803.0979-82-16-40638-90-7591-1973-21-299-19588-110.5040/9798216406389(CKB)2550000001003147(EBL)1131404(OCoLC)850198382(SSID)ssj0000837075(PQKBManifestationID)12406652(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000837075(PQKBWorkID)10767298(PQKB)10111834(Au-PeEL)EBL1131404(CaPaEBR)ebr10661169(CaONFJC)MIL450838(MiAaPQ)EBC1131404(OCoLC)830813305(OCoLC)850198382(OCoLC)1018381938(OCoLC)1020133893(OCoLC)1037793788(OCoLC)1038679004(OCoLC)1055315833(OCoLC)1066435341(OCoLC)1076723069(OCoLC)1081281740(OCoLC)1153502213(OCoLC)1162142006(OCoLC)1171469037(OCoLC)1172094869(OCoLC)1205516558(OCoLC)1290113303(UkLoBP)BP9798216406389BC(EXLCZ)99255000000100314720120824d2013 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierArchives for the lay person a guide to managing cultural collections /Lois HamillLanham, Maryland :AltaMira Press, a division of Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, Inc.,[2013]New York :Bloomsbury Publishing(US),2013.©20131 online resource (vii, 287 pages) illustrationsAmerican Association for State and Local History book seriesDescription based upon print version of record.0-7591-1971-6 0-7591-1972-4 Includes bibliographical references and index.Basic definitions and concepts -- Acquiring new materials -- Organizing the collections -- Describing the collection -- Photographs: Part I.
