Colossians, 2 Thessalonians. Paul's claims raise some interesting questions about his letter-writing practices. Did he write any complete letters himself, or did he always dictate to a scribe? How much did his scribes contribute to the composition of his letters? Did Paul make the effort to proofread and correct what he had dictated? What was the purpose of Paul's autographic subscriptions? What was Paul's purpose in calling attention to their autographic nature? Why did Paul write in large letters in the subscription of his letter to the Galatians? Why did he call attention to this peculiarity of his handwriting? A good source of answers to these questions can be found among the primary documents that have survived from around the time of Paul, a large number of which have been discovered over the past two centuries and in fact continue to be discovered to this day. From around the time of Paul there are extant several dozen letters from the caves and refuges in the desert of eastern Judaea (in Hebrew, Aramaic, Nabataean, Greek, and Latin), several hundred from the remains of a Roman military camp in Vindolanda in northern England (in Latin), and several thousand from the sands of Middle and Upper Egypt (in Greek, Latin, and Egyptian Demotic). Reece has examined almost all these documents, many of them unpublished and rarely read, with special attention to their handwriting styles, in order to shed some light on these technical aspects of Paul's letter-writing conventions."--Provided by publisher.Library of New Testament studies ;561.Classical lettersHistory and criticismLetter writing, ClassicalBiblical studies & exegesisbicsscClassical lettersHistory and criticism.Letter writing, Classical.Biblical studies & exegesis227/.066Reece Steve1959-1017000DLCCaBNVSLCaBNVSLBOOK9910136655503321Paul's large letters2657512UNINA03578nam 2200649 a 450 991048412240332120251117045919.03-540-36823-X10.1007/11808107(CKB)1000000000283808(SSID)ssj0000317169(PQKBManifestationID)11292340(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000317169(PQKBWorkID)10287218(PQKB)10708408(DE-He213)978-3-540-36823-6(MiAaPQ)EBC3068075(PPN)123137012(EXLCZ)99100000000028380820060623d2006 uy 0engurnn|008mamaatxtccrDependable systems software, computing, networks : research results of the DICS program /Jurg Kohlas, Bertrand Meyer, Andre Schiper (eds.)1st ed. 2006.Berlin Springer20061 online resource (XII, 295 p.) As a result, dependability has become a central issue in all disciplines of systems engineering and software architecture.Theories, methods and tools that help to master the problems encountered in the design process and the management of operations are therefore of utmost importance for the future of information and communication technology. The present volume documents the results of a research program on Dependable Information and Communication Systems (DICS). The members of the project met in two workshops organized by the Hasler Foundation. This state-of-the-art survey contains 3 overview articles identifying major issues of dependability and presenting the latest solutions, as well as 10 carefully selected and revised papers depicting the research results originating from those workshops. The first workshop took place in Münchenwiler, Switzerland, in March 2004, and the second workshop, which marked the conclusion of the projects, in Löwenberg, Switzerland, in October 2005. The papers are organized in topical sections on surveys, dependable software, dependable computing, and dependable networks.Lecture notes in computer science ;4028.LNCS sublibrary.SL 2,Programming and software engineering.DICSDependable information and communications systemsComputer softwareReliabilityResearchComputer systemsReliabilityResearchComputer networksReliabilityResearchComputer softwareReliabilityResearch.Computer systemsReliabilityResearch.Computer networksReliabilityResearch.005.3Kohlas Jürg1939-57982Meyer Bertrand1950-26666Schiper André1949-746958MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910484122403321Dependable systems4204894UNINA
