Abstract This study shows that something commonplace, like heating in private households, is a complex social phenomenon. Technological developments, such as passive houses and smart heating controls, can only have their maximum effect on energy savings if they are socially adapted. How technology and action can be thought of together is explained in this work. It thus makes a contribution to social science climate research. Using the example of domestic heating, it conveys the theoretical and analytical efficiency of the practice approach and shows that this approach has great potential in investigating processes of change in social practices. For those who deal with the topic of heating or other forms of everyday energy consumption and its (political) framework conditions from a practical point of view, there are numerous hints as to how the complexity of everyday life can be addressed in practice.Energiewende in den eigenen vier WändenEnergiewende in den eigenen vier WändenEnergiewendeEnergiekonsum in PrivathaushaltenNaturschutzPassivhausSmart HomeHeizenergieKlimawandelMaterialitätHeizenUmweltPraktikenwandelMatzat Johanna Sophieauth788015BOOK996540361003316Energiewende in den eigenen vier Wänden1756420UNISA04638nam 22007935 450 991048398760332120200919185053.03-319-07809-710.1007/978-3-319-07809-0(CKB)3710000000238348(EBL)1968373(OCoLC)891331640(SSID)ssj0001354222(PQKBManifestationID)11987175(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001354222(PQKBWorkID)11322894(PQKB)11390489(DE-He213)978-3-319-07809-0(MiAaPQ)EBC1968373(PPN)25886026X(PPN)181354632(EXLCZ)99371000000023834820140909d2015 u| 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrMutative Media Communication Technologies and Power Relations in the Past, Present, and Futures /by James A. We start by surveying what is generally known about the emergence of human language and speech that has enabled humans to extend their organizing abilities beyond that of other hominids. We then review research on the emergence of signs, symbols, and eventually writing, which led to new ways of thinking, acting, and organizing in scribal societies and vastly extended human influence globally. We consider the impact of the printing press in Europe, the Middle East, China, and Korea that led to various ways of thinking and organizing in modern societies, and conclude our historical survey with a discussion of the emergence and impact of electric and electronic communication technologies from the nineteenth century to the present. After a brief overview of what “futures studies” is and is not, based on our extensive experience in the field, we present four generic alternative futures, and discuss a prototype of a hybrid, mixed-reality game designed to enable players to experience the power and potential of new communication technologies within four very different environments and conditions. We think you will be intrigued by our surprising findings and what they may mean for future generations!Lecture Notes in Social Networks,2190-5428CommunicationMultimedia systemsMass mediaPolitical scienceCommunication Studieshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X28000Media Designhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I25004Media Sociologyhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X22110Political Sciencehttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/911000Communication.Multimedia systems.Mass media.Political science.Communication Studies.Media Design.Media Sociology.Political Science.006.7300302.2302.23Dator James Aauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut1025243Sweeney John Aauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autYee Aubrey Mauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910483987603321Mutative Media2845370UNINA
