In particular, it assesses whether the consumer benchmarks are suitable in terms of achieving the three goals of the Directive: achieving a high level of consumer protection, increasing the smooth functioning of the internal market, and improving competition in the market as such. In addition to providing a thorough analysis of the consumer benchmarks and their relationship to the goals of the Directive, at a more practical level, the book provides insight into the working and consequences of the benchmarks that can be used in the evaluation of the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive and its application by the CJEU. This assessment is important because the Directive, while promising to regulate unfair commercial practices in a way that achieves the Directive’s goals, has removed the possibility for Member States to regulate unfair commercial practices themselves.Studies in European Economic Law and Regulation,2214-2037 ;5Law—EuropeCivil lawInternational lawTradeMass mediaLawMedical laws and legislationPrivate international lawConflict of lawsEuropean Lawhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R20000Civil Lawhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R1200XInternational Economic Law, Trade Lawhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R19050IT Law, Media Law, Intellectual Propertyhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R15009Medical Lawhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R16005Private International Law, International & Foreign Law, Comparative Law https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/R14002Law—Europe.Civil law.International law.Trade.Mass media.Law.Medical laws and legislation.Private international law.Conflict of laws.European Law.Civil Law.International Economic Law, Trade Law.IT Law, Media Law, Intellectual Property.Medical Law.Private International Law, International & Foreign Law, Comparative Law .341.753Duivenvoorde Bram Bauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut1230047MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910483874103321The Consumer Benchmarks in the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive2855258UNINA
