Brewer, Azrini Wahidin1st ed. 2021.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Palgrave Macmillan,2021.1 online resource (355 pages)Palgrave Studies in Compromise after Conflict,2946-28009783030615659 3030615650 This book develops the discourse on the experiences of ex-combatants and their transition from war to peace, from the perspective of scholars across disciplines. Ex-combatants are often overlooked and ignored in the post-conflict search for memory and understanding, resulting in their voice being excluded or distorted. This collection seeks to disclose something of the lived experience of ex-combatants who have made the transition from war to peace to help to understand some of the difficulties they have encountered in social and emotional reintegration in the wake of combat. These include: motivations and mobilizations to participation in military struggle; the material difficulties experienced in social reintegration after the war; the emotional legacies of conflict; the discourses they utilize to reconcile their past in a society moving forward from conflict toward peace; and ex-combatants' subsequent engagement - or not - in peacebuilding. It also examines the contributions that former combatants have made to post-conflict compromise, reconciliation and peacebuilding. It focusses on male non-state actors, women, child soldiers and, unusually, state veterans, and complements previous volumes which captured the voices of victims in Northern Ireland, South Africa and Sri Lanka. This volume speaks to those working in the areas of sociology, criminology, security studies, politics, and international relations, and professionals working in social justice and human rights NGOs.Palgrave Studies in Compromise after Conflict,2946-2800CrimeSociological aspectsPeaceCriminologyPolitics and warInternational relationsSexCrime and SocietyPeace and Conflict StudiesCriminology in the Global SouthMilitary and Defence StudiesInternational RelationsGender StudiesCrimeSociological aspects.Peace.Criminology.Politics and war.International relations.Sex.Crime and Society.Peace and Conflict Studies.Criminology in the Global South.Military and Defence Studies.International Relations.Gender Studies.362.86096891Brewer John D.Wahidin Azrini1972-MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910483718703321Ex-combatants' voices2812837UNINA04823nam 22006975 450 991030021830332120250715124730.09783319167039331916703010.1007/978-3-319-16703-9(CKB)3710000000434241(EBL)2094650(SSID)ssj0001525107(PQKBManifestationID)11869901(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001525107(PQKBWorkID)11484966(PQKB)11142189(DE-He213)978-3-319-16703-9(MiAaPQ)EBC2094650(PPN)186395418(EXLCZ)99371000000043424120150617d2015 u| 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrSocial Anxiety and Phobia in Adolescents Development, Manifestation and Intervention Strategies /edited by Klaus Ranta, Annette M La Greca, Luis-Joaquin Garcia-Lopez, Mauri Marttunen1st ed. 2015.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2015.1 online resource (327 p.)Description based upon print version of record.9783319167022 3319167022 Includes bibliographical references at the end of each chapters.Background/Theoretical Accounts: The developmental psychopathology of social anxiety and phobia in adolescents -- Developmental Epidemiology of Social Anxiety and Social Phobia in Adolescents -- Easier to Accelerate Than to Slow Down: Contributions of Developmental Neurobiology for the Understanding of Adolescent Social Anxiety -- Developmental Transitions in Adolescence and their Implications for Social Anxiety -- Recognition and Manifestations of Adolescent Social Anxiety and Phobia in Diverse Settings: Assessment of Social Anxiety in Adolescents -- Social Anxiety and the School Environment of Adolescents -- Social Anxiety and Romantic Relationships -- Adolescent Social Phobia in Clinical Services -- Cognition-focused Interventions for Social Anxiety Disorder Among Adolescents -- Interpersonal Approaches to Intervention: Implications for Preventing and Treating Social Anxiety in Adolescents -- School-based Interventions for Adolescents with Social Anxiety Disorder -- Social Skills-based Treatment for Social Anxiety Disorder in Adolescents -- Pharmacotherapy for Adolescent Social Phobia -- Concluding Remarks. This volume brings together research into diverse aspects of social anxiety and its clinical form, social phobia, in adolescents. Development of the condition, clinical manifestations, and evidence-based prevention and treatment strategies are all addressed, with emphasis on ways in which adolescent development and the broader family and peer context are reflected in the manifestation and treatment of symptoms. The first part of the book reviews epidemiological, neurobiological, and sociopsychological research on vulnerability factors that aim to clarify why both social anxiety and phobia intensify in adolescence. The second part focuses on the phenomenology of social anxiety and phobia in different developmental contexts and provides the reader with a review of developmentally-appropriate evidence-based assessment methods. For example, this section includes chapters on social anxiety in the school environment and in romantic relationships, social phobia in the clinical setting. The third section reviews the psychosocial prevention and treatment options for adolescent social anxiety as well as the psychopharmacological treatment of social phobia. Social Anxiety and Phobia in Adolescents will be informative and interesting for all child and adolescent psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and psychotherapists as well as for school psychologists and counsellors.PsychiatryPsychologyPediatricsPsychiatryBehavioral Sciences and PsychologyPediatricsPsychiatry.Psychology.Pediatrics.Psychiatry.Behavioral Sciences and Psychology.Pediatrics.150610616.89618.92Ranta Klausedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtLa Greca Annette M(Annette Marie),edthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtGarcia-Lopez Luis-Joaquinedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtMarttunen Mauriedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtBOOK9910300218303321Social Anxiety and Phobia in Adolescents1770522UNINA
