The long march back to boredom -- Readings -- Acknowledgements -- IndexIn the first book to argue for the benefits of boredom, Peter Toohey dispels the myth that it's simply a childish emotion or an existential malaise like Jean-Paul Sartre's nausea. He shows how boredom is, in fact, one of our most common and constructive emotions and is an essential part of the human experience. This informative and entertaining investigation of boredom-what it is and what it isn't, its uses and its dangers-spans more than 3,000 years of history and takes readers through fascinating neurological and psychological theories of emotion, as well as recent scientific investigations, to illustrate its role in our lives. There are Australian aboriginals and bored Romans, Jeffrey Archer and caged cockatoos, Camus and the early Christians, Dürer and Degas. Toohey also explores the important role that boredom plays in popular and highbrow culture and how over the centuries it has proven to be a stimulus for art and literature.Toohey shows that boredom is a universal emotion experienced by humans throughout history and he explains its place, and value, in today's world. Boredom: A Lively History is vital reading for anyone interested in what goes on when supposedly nothing happens.BoredomHistoryBoredomBoredom in literatureBoredomHistory.Boredom.Boredom in literature.152.4Toohey Peter1951-609081MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910781307403321Boredom3788834UNINA06614nam 2201189z 450 991047687760332120251116142409.010.61201/tup.740(CKB)5470000000567166(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/64268(EXLCZ)99547000000056716620202102d2021 ky 0finurmn|---annantxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierMedioitunut valta ja politiikan paluu kyselytutkimus suomalaispäättäjien suhteesta mediaan 2009 ja 2019 /Esa Reunanen & Risto KuneliusTampere, Suomi :Tampere University Press,[2021]1 verkkoaineisto (139 sivua) kuvitettuVertaisarvioitu.Refereed.Peer-reviewed.952-359-030-8 952-359-031-6 Sisältää bibliografisia viitteitä.This book [Mediatized power and the return of the political] describes Finnish decision-makers’ relationship with the media. It is based on surveys in 2009 and 2019. In 2009 there were 419 and in 2019 484 respondents, all of them having an influential position in some of the eight societal sectors covered in the study. The results show a moderate change from a consensus-oriented and networking decision-making culture towards a more ideologic and power-based way of negotiating. However, it seems that this has not affected how open or transparent the negotiation-processes are or how prone the decision-makers are to leak confidential information. The decision-makers’ relationship with media publicity has become more professional and strategic. The results point to an increased role of social media in communications management while the role of the news media seems to be diminishing. Even though the decision-makers view publicity as an even more risky and strategic arena of political struggle than they did before, they also seem now acknowledge more clearly the rational aspects of journalism. The self-reported role of media publicity as a source of personal authority has somewhat diminished while there seems to be no change in how prone the decision-makers think they are for the impacts of media publicity.Kyselytutkimus suomalaispäättäjien suhteesta mediaan 2009 ja 2019Political leaders & leadershipbicsscMedia studiesbicsscpäätöksentekohttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p8743http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p8743yso/finpoliittinen päätöksentekohttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p12259http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p12259yso/finpäättäjäthttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p8741http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p8741yso/finvaikutusvaltahttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p21288http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p21288yso/finvaltahttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p2551yso/finmediahttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p2445yso/finjoukkoviestimethttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p856http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p856yso/finsosiaalinen mediahttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p20774yso/finpolitiikkahttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p454http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p454yso/finmedioituminenhttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p24151yso/finmediasuhteethttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p25985http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p25985yso/finjulkisuushttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p882http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p882yso/finpoliitikothttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p3182http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p3182yso/finuutisethttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p13915yso/finbeslutsfattandehttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p8743http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p8743yso/swepolitiskt beslutsfattandehttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p12259http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p12259yso/swebeslutsfattarehttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p8741http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p8741yso/sweinflytandehttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p21288http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p21288yso/swemakthttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p2551yso/swemediahttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p2445http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p2445yso/swemassmedierhttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p856http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p856yso/swesociala medierhttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p20774yso/swepolitikhttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p454http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p454yso/swemedialiseringhttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p24151yso/swemediekontakterhttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p25985http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p25985yso/sweoffentlighethttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p882http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p882yso/swepolitikerhttp://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p3182http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p3182yso/swenyheter (meddelanden)http://www.yso.fi/onto/yso/p13915yso/sweSuomiyso/finFinlandyso/swee-kirjat.slm/fine-böcker.slm/swepolitics, decision-making, mediatization of politics, journalism, powerPolitical leaders & leadershipMedia studiespäätöksenteko.poliittinen päätöksenteko.päättäjät.vaikutusvalta.valta.media.joukkoviestimet.sosiaalinen media.politiikka.medioituminen.mediasuhteet.julkisuus.poliitikot.uutiset.beslutsfattande.politiskt beslutsfattande.beslutsfattare.inflytande.makt.media.massmedier.sociala medier.politik.medialisering.mediekontakter.offentlighet.politiker.nyheter (meddelanden)Reunanen Esa1291920Kunelius Risto1964-Tampereen yliopisto.Press,FI-HulBOOK9910476877603321Medioitunut valta ja politiikan paluu3022080UNINAHelka
