Detailing the many ways ordinary Angolans fashion their relationships with the system-an emic notion of their current political and socioeconomic environment-Jon Schubert explores what it means and how it feels to be part of the contemporary Angolan polity. Schubert finds that for many ordinary Angolans, the benefits of the post-conflict "New Angola," flush with oil wealth and in the midst of a construction boom, are few. The majority of the inhabitants of the capital, Luanda, struggle to make ends meet and live on under $2 .00 per day. The "New Angola" as promoted by the ruling MPLA, Schubert contends, is an essentially urban, upwardly mobile, and aspirational project, premised on the acceptance of the regime's political and economic dominance by its citizens. In the first ethnography of Angola to be published since the end of that country's twenty-seven years of intermittent violent internal conflict in 2002, Schubert traces how Angolans may question and resist the system within an atmosphere of apparent compliance. Working the System will appeal to anthropologists and political scientists, urban sociologists, and scholars of African studies.EthnologyAngolaPolitics and cultureAngolaPower (Social sciences)AngolaPostwar reconstructionSocial aspectsAngolaAngolaHistory2002-Electronic books.EthnologyPolitics and culturePower (Social sciences)Postwar reconstructionSocial aspects967.304/2Schubert Jon1982-1029007MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910466803803321Working the system2445226UNINA03637nam 2201045z- 450 991059507760332120231214133250.0(CKB)5680000000080750(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/92019(EXLCZ)99568000000008075020202209d2022 |y 0engurmn|---annantxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierImplementation Science for Point-of-Care DiagnosticsBaselMDPI Books20221 electronic resource (198 p.)3-0365-4865-3 3-0365-4866-1 This book focuses on the application of implementation science methods to enable the rapid uptake and sustainable implementation of new diagnostics into routine health practices to strengthen health systems.Diagnostics are essential for the success of universal health coverage and improved health outcomes. The increased development and deployment of diagnostics for use at the point of care will not guarantee improved access to diagnostics and health outcomes if their implementation is not optimized. Optimal implementation will need to be guided by theories and methods that aim to promote evidence-based practices and findings of research into routine practice, taking into consideration quality systems and contexts.HumanitiesbicsscSocial interactionbicsscprognosislactate clearancebiomarkeremergency medical servicesemergency departmentcritical careultrasoundimagingX-raychestdiagnosisSARSSARS-CoV-2rapid diagnostic techniquesPOCT techniqueslung ultrasoundCOVID-19POCUSmHealth devicesaccuracysensitivityspecificitysub-Saharan Africapoint of care ultrasoundimplementation scienceadoptionmHealth applicationsdisease diagnosistreatment supportrapid diagnostic testingRDTmodellingsymptomstransmission preventioninfectious diseasehuman immunodeficiency virusHIVcoronavirustuberculosishealth servicesprimary healthcarepoint of care diagnostic servicessupply chain managementresource-limited settingsIndian pandemicrapid antigen tests (RATs)CoviSelfCoWINdigital dividerural IndiaIndian villagerspovertydiscourse analysisqualitative medical/health research strategiesvulnerable populationsliteracydiagnosticsadvocacyHumanitiesSocial interactionMashamba-Thompson Tivani Pedt1329047Mashamba-Thompson Tivani PothBOOK9910595077603321Implementation Science for Point-of-Care Diagnostics3039268UNINA
