On one hand, a hero cannot remain a static character if he or she is to appeal to diverse and dynamic communities. On the other hand, a traditional icon should retain some basic features in order to remain recognizable. Joshua son of Nun is an iconic figure of Israelite cultural memory described at length in the Hebrew Bible and venerated in numerous religious traditions. This book uses Joshua as a test case. It tackles reception and redaction history, focusing on the use and development of Joshua’s character and the deployment of his various images in the narratives and texts of several religious traditions. I look for continuities and discontinuities between traditions, as well as cross-pollination and polemic. The first two chapters look at Joshua’s portrayal in biblical literature, using both synchronic (literary analysis) as well as diachronic (Überlieferungsgeschichte and redaction/source criticism) methodologies. The other four chapters focus on the reception history of Joshua in Second Temple and Hellenistic Jewish literature, in the medieval (Arabic) Samaritan Book of Joshua, in the New Testament and Church Fathers, and in Rabbinic literature.Beihefte zur Zeitschrift für die alttestamentliche Wissenschaft ;Volume 457.Typology (Theology)Electronic books.Typology (Theology)222/.2092Farber Zev1976-1037197MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910464449303321Images of Joshua in the Bible and its reception2458003UNINA04363 am 22007333u 450 991033795610332120220916224821.03-030-15943-410.1007/978-3-030-15943-6(CKB)4100000008493307(DE-He213)978-3-030-15943-6(MiAaPQ)EBC5796499(Au-PeEL)EBL5796499(OCoLC)1111626985(oapen)https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/27037(PPN)252511476(EXLCZ)99410000000849330720190621d2019 uy 0engurnn#---mamaatxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierAquaponics food production systems combined aquaculture and hydroponic production technologies for the future /editors, Simon Goddek [et al.]1st edition 2019.ChamSpringer Nature2019Cham :Springer International Publishing ;2019.1 online resource (XVI, 619 p. 116 illus., 114 illus. in color.)3-030-15942-6 PART 1: FRAMEWORK CONDITIONS IN A RESOURCE LIMITED WORLD -- 1: Aquaponics and Global Food Challenges -- 2: Aquaponics: closing the cycle on limited water, land and nutrient resources -- 3: Recirculating Aquaculture Technology -- 4: Hydroponic Technology -- PART 2: SPECIFIC AQUAPONIC TECHNOLOGY -- 5: Aquaponics: The Basics -- 6: Bacterial Relationships in Aquaponics: New Research Directions -- 7: Coupled Aquaponic Systems -- 8: Decoupled Aquaponic Systems -- 9: Nutrient Cycling -- 10: Aerobic & Anaerobic Treatments for Aquaponic Sludge Reduction and Mineralisation -- 11: Systems Modelling -- 12: Aquaponics: Alternative Types and Approaches -- PART 3: PERSPECTIVE FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT -- 13: Fish Diets in Aquaponics -- 14: Plant Pathogens and Control Strategies in Aquaponics -- 15: Smarthoods: Aquaponics Integrated Microgrids -- 16: Aquaponics for the Anthropocene: Towards a 'sustainable first' Agenda -- PART 4: MANAGEMENT & MARKETING -- 17: Insight into Risk in Aquatic Animal Health in Aquaponics -- 18: Commercial Aqupaonics - A Long Road Ahead -- 19: Aquaponics: The Ugly Duckling in Organic Regulation -- 20: Regulatory Frameworks for Aquaponics within the EU -- 21: Aquaponics in the Built Environment -- PART 5: AQUAPONICS AND EDUCATION -- 22: Aquaponics as an Educational Tool -- 23: Opportunities and challenges in using aquaponics among young people at school – a Danish perspective -- 24: Aquaponics and Social Enterprise. This open access book, written by world experts in aquaponics and related technologies, provides the authoritative and comprehensive overview of the key aquaculture and hydroponic and other integrated systems, socio-economic and environmental aspects. Aquaponic systems, which combine aquaculture and vegetable food production offer alternative technology solutions for a world that is increasingly under stress through population growth, urbanisation, water shortages, land and soil degradation, environmental pollution, world hunger and climate change.AquaponicsAquatic biologyFishesAgricultureSustainable developmentEnvironmental educationLife sciencesAquatic ecology WildlifeFishAgricultureSustainable developmentEnvironmental educationAquaponics.Aquatic biology.Fishes.Agriculture.Sustainable development.Environmental education.577.6577.7Goddek Simonedt1356558Goddek Simonedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtJoyce Alyssaedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtKotzen Benzedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtBurnell Gavinedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910337956103321Aquaponics food production systems3361148UNINA
