To facilitate accessibility, technical and linguistic commentaries as well as an excerpt series were compiled by the scholars of old. This ancient knowledge, which was still largely characterized by mythological concepts, was never completely abandoned, not even when the ‘calculating’ astronomy became prevalent in the first millennium B.C. The series deals in four parts with the moon, the sun, weather phenomena, and fixed stars and planets. This book offers an edition of the texts of the second half of the weather section with the accompanying material.Cuneiform Monographs43.Akkadian languageTextsOmensIraqBabyloniaElectronic books.Akkadian languageOmens492/.1Gehlken Erlend638114MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910461935003321Weather omens of Enūma Anu Enlil2259577UNINA03062 am 22005533u 450 99620165590331620221206103747.0(CKB)3450000000002993(MARCnow)har110179631(MH)012821477-5(SSID)ssj0000507577(PQKBManifestationID)12176698(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000507577(PQKBWorkID)10546059(PQKB)11322675(OCoLC)808385337(EXLCZ)99345000000000299320110820h20112011 uy 0engurmn#nnn|||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierOff-canon pleasures a case study and a perspective /Armin Paul FrankGöttingen, Germany:Universitätsverlag Göttingen,2011.©20111 online resource (viii, 122 pages)Open Access e-BooksKnowledge UnlatchedIncludes bibliographical references.1. Perspective. The inclusion of works in a canonical list creates a large body of exclusions. But among these neglected works there are not a few that nevertheless are worth reading. Literary worth is not necessarily aesthetic impeccability. A literary work recommends itself by a high degree of artistic achievement with elbowroom for historical importance. The present study focuses on Leo Rosten's immigration novel The Education of Hyman Kaplan (1937) and Archibald MacLeish's radio play Air Raid (1938). The first is more than the apparent compendium of language-based jokes. Read in the context of immigration policy from Presidents Theodore Roosevelt to F.D. Roosevelt and of Jewish-American humor, it displays Kaplan's moral and intellectual growth, which extant commentary denies, and exhibits the "interior internationality" of an immigration country. Air Raid is one of the few achieved American radio plays to take a stand on foreign affairs in a context that does not only consist of broadcasting and Picasso's collage-painting Guernica "the screaming picture" which MacLeish transposed into the acoustic medium but also of the historical saturation bombing of the Basque town.American literature20th centuryHistory and criticismAmerican literatureHistory and criticismCanon (Literature)History and criticismElectronic books.American literatureHistory and criticism.American literatureHistory and criticism.Canon (Literature)History and criticism.810.90052Frank Armin Paul694506NyNyMARNyNyMARAuAdUSAUkMaJRUBOOK996201655903316Off-canon pleasures1985825UNISA02200nam0 2200469 i 450 CFI032906520251003044139.08820498618IT97-4387 20191025d1996 ||||0itac50 baitaitz01i xxxe z01nz01ncRDAcarrierIl sistema comunicazioneindustrie e mercatiIReRpresentazione di Giuseppe Garioa cura di Carlo Antonio Ricciardicon saggi di Anna Maria Bagnasco ... \et al.!MilanoF.
