Bloom.Arthur Ruppin’s immense contribution to the Zionist movement gave him the title “The Father of Jewish/Zionist settlement in Palestine.” Nevertheless, the common narrative sets Ruppin’s historical persona in an ambivalent position and suppresses his formative role and heritage. Part of the reason for this is that, in many ways, his history causes a crack to appear in the Zionist national “cover stories.” This study utilizes innovative archival research and contains provocative theses which make us view the foundation of Israeli culture differently. It addresses the cultural interaction between the German Sonderweg , with all its proto-Nazi and völkische ideas, and Palestinian Zionism. The study therefore exposes the sources and presence of internal Jewish racism while also analysing the anti-Semitic aspect of Pre-Israeli culture. A particularly important section details Ruppin's crucial influence on the Labor Movement and the colonization of the Land of Israel/Palestine.Studies in Jewish history and culture ;v. 31.ZionismPalestineHistory20th centuryJewsColonizationPalestineHistory20th centuryZionistsGermanyBiographyZionistsPalestineBiographyPolitics and culturePalestineElectronic books.ZionismHistoryJewsColonizationHistoryZionistsZionistsPolitics and culture320.54095694092Bloom Etan876638MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910461598303321Arthur Ruppin and the production of pre-Israeli culture1957495UNINA01135nas a2200313 i 450099100306882970753620231114121144.0071128d19301995it qr p 0 b0ita d0373-4137b13625032-39ule_instDi.S.Te.B.A.eng590.5Boll. zool.Bollettino di zoologiaBollettino di zoologia. - 1930-1995.Padova :Unione Zoologica Italiana,1930-1995Later issues published by Rosenberg & Sellier in Torino, ItalySupplements accompany some numbersCodice CNR: P 00001817LE003 1971-1995. lac.: 1971;1973;1975-1978;1991;ZoologyPeriodicalsUnione zoologica italianaTheItalian journal of zoology.b1362503228-01-1428-11-07991003068829707536LE003 (Fondo SBM)1le003-E0.00-n- 180000.i1462064928-11-07Bollettino di zoologia. - 1930-19951217254UNISALENTOle00328-11-07sa -itait 00
