Definitions of Variables; ReferencesEmpirical studies that use self-reported data on remittances to measure the latter's impact on microeconomic incentives mostly ignore the potential errors associated with reporting/measurement issues. An econometric procedure to control for these errors is developed and applied to household-level data from Armenia. We find evidence of systematic under-reporting of remittances. After controlling for this, we find a strong negative impact of remittances on incentives to work.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2008/230Migrant remittancesArmeniaEconometric modelsHouseholdsArmeniaEconometric modelsPublic welfareArmeniaEconometric modelsLabor marketArmeniaEconometric modelsExports and ImportsimfLaborimfMacroeconomicsimfEmigration and ImmigrationimfRemittancesimfDemand and Supply of Labor: GeneralimfLabor Standards: Labor Force CompositionimfAggregate Factor Income DistributionimfLabor Economics: GeneralimfInternational MigrationimfInternational economicsimfLabourimfincome economicsimfMigration, immigration & emigrationimfLabor supplyimfLabor force participationimfIncomeimfBalance of paymentsimfMigrationimfPopulation and demographicsimfNational accountsimfInternational financeimfLabor marketimfLabor economicsimfEmigration and immigrationimfArmenia, Republic ofimfMigrant remittancesEconometric models.HouseholdsEconometric models.Public welfareEconometric models.Labor marketEconometric models.Exports and ImportsLaborMacroeconomicsEmigration and ImmigrationRemittancesDemand and Supply of Labor: GeneralLabor Standards: Labor Force CompositionAggregate Factor Income DistributionLabor Economics: GeneralInternational MigrationInternational economicsLabourincome economicsMigration, immigration & emigrationLabor supplyLabor force participationIncomeBalance of paymentsMigrationPopulation and demographicsNational accountsInternational financeLabor marketLabor economicsEmigration and immigration304.8Melkonyan Tigran1493498Grigorian David1493499Shonkwiler J.
