The Alexandrian Jews fought to keep their citizenship - or to acquire it; they evaded the payment of the poll-tax - or prevented any attempts to impose it on them; they safeguarded their identity against the Greeks - or against the Egyptians. Avoiding that pattern and building on the historical reconstruction of the experience of the Alexandrian Jewish community under the Ptolemies, this work submits that the riots were the legal and political consequence of an imperial adjudication against the Jews. Most of the Jews lost their residence never to recover it again. The Roman emperor, the Roman prefect of Egypt and the Alexandrian citizenry - all shared responsibilities according to their respective and expected roles.Supplements to the Journal for the study of Judaism ;v. 135.JewsEgyptAlexandriaHistoryTo 1500JewsPersecutionsEgyptAlexandriaHistoryTo 1500JewsLegal status, laws, etcEgyptAlexandriaHistoryTo 1500RiotsEgyptAlexandriaHistoryTo 1500Alexandria (Egypt)HistoryAlexandria (Egypt)Ethnic relationsAlexandria (Egypt)Politics and governmentElectronic books.JewsHistoryJewsPersecutionsHistoryJewsLegal status, laws, etc.HistoryRiotsHistory305.892/4032Gambetti Sandra888115MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910459605203321The Alexandrian riots of 38 C.E. and the persecution of the Jews1983743UNINA03148nam 2200589 450 991078958350332120230803033109.03-03826-184-X(CKB)3710000000025454(EBL)1910365(SSID)ssj0001190022(PQKBManifestationID)11652830(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001190022(PQKBWorkID)11178246(PQKB)10767985(Au-PeEL)EBL1910365(CaPaEBR)ebr10777692(OCoLC)868960668(MiAaPQ)EBC1910365(EXLCZ)99371000000002545420130731h20132013 fy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrLayered clay materials for functional applications special topic volume with invited peer reviewed papers only /edited by Trilochan Mishra and Nigamananda DasSwitzerland :Trans Tech Publications,[2013]©20131 online resource (221 p.)Key engineering materials ;571Description based upon print version of record.3-03785-803-6 Includes bibliographical references and index.Layered Clay Materials for Functional Applications; Preface; Table of Contents; Hydrotalcites as Catalysts and Catalysts Precursors for the Synthesis of Biodiesel; Additives for Solid Polymer Electrolytes: The Layered Nanoparticles; Adsorption of Acid Dyes on Hydrotalcite-Like Anionic Clays; Pillared Clay as an Effective Catalyst for Low Temperature VOCs Decomposition; Recent Development in Clay Based Functional Coating for Corrosion Protection; The Layered Silicate, Montmorillonite (MMT) as a Drug Delivery Carrier; Drug Delivery Using Nanosized Layered Double Hydroxide, an Anionic ClayProgress in One-Pot Synthesis of Methyl Isobutyl Ketone Using Multifunctional Layered Based CatalystsLayered Clay Rubber Composites; Keywords Index; Authors IndexThis special topic volume is a result from the contributions of twenty five experts from the international scientific community in their respective field of research. The volume focuses the use of clay based layered materials for different functional applications ranging from catalysis, biomaterials to self-healing coatings. It gives a comprehensive picture of the possible applications and future developments of clay materials. It provide in depth discussion by the researchers with respect to chemical intercalation, drug delivery, environmental, and engineering applications.
